We were there for the sushi buffet. It was all you can eat. It was well worth it. Very good. Service was good as well! No views if that’s what you’re looking for. We couldn’t get a reservation for the Gastro festival night, they were full.

We went to the Gastronomic Festival as it was considered a great thing to do in terms of food experience. However it was very frustrating! You pay a lot for it AUD 92 per person, not included drinks and service, and that is what my partner and I have paid in much nicer restaurants for we both, where we had amazing food!

The Ze Maria offers a range of buffet food but in general they are average. The only thing was very good was the japanese food, but we were not there for this kind of food... The desserts are neither nice. We were told we should be there at 20:30 however they just started to set up the buffer around 21:30 what we found very annoying as we were starving after a long day doing trekking... Moreover, we were done around 22:30 but we had to wait until 23:15 for desserts... Very annoying again... The drinks are incredible expensive and far from being good. We ordered a jug of pinneapple juice with mint and it was the worst juice we ever had, and it clearly doesnt worth 45 reais!
They are all the time there is no queue to serve the food but yes it is a bit of a mess to gt your plate done.
We do not recommend this place for the festival.

After watching the fotos i was wondering, why this restaurant is so low ranked... Now i know...

The meal was good. But the service was the worst that i had after eating in four different restaurants in Noronha.

First you dont get placed from the waiter, they just move around you while you are waiting. The we asked for a table and got told to seat where we want.

The drinks (gin tonic and maracuja juice) took the same time to be delievered as the mainplate (filet mignon). We werent asked if we want more to drink, i wanted some more peppersauce and got told if i want additional sauce i get charged additional.

It took the waitress 15mins to bring the dessertcard and even that only because we went to her and asked for it. My girlfriend ordered some icecream and the waitress went away without asking me if i want a dessert aswell. I wanted... but in that case, i brought my money to someone who wants it.

Dont expect a nice treatment...

The food was average, we had to share a table with another couple but the price implies a high quality special meal. Overall it is poor value for money and cannot be recommended. The gastronomic festival happens on Saturday and Wednesday evenings and has become a 'must-do' for Noronha, evident by the full house. So full, that you may well be required to share a table and wait in a long lone to access the rather chaotic buffet; It felt very overbooked but apparently this is usual.
The event starts at 8.30pm with a talk about the food from the owner, Ze Maria. The day we went the food was then served at 9.30pm, a long talk, we felt bad for people who were already hungry at 8.30pm! After quieting to access the small buffet table we found the food we selected to be nothing special. At 10.30pm we went for a 2nd plate to see if other options were better but they were already clearing the buffet table to bring out the deserts. The deserts, which were served at 11pm, it has to be said were very good and of the standard to be expected for the price. They were cleared away at about 11.45pm.
The drinks service was a bit hard to flag down but ok.
We spoke to several other tables the next day at our hotel and on a day-trip and all were disappointed.
You have to pay in advance to book a place, about $75 pp excluding all drinks, which you pay on the night.
Overall, we had much better experiences at other restaurants on the island. If you still want to visit Ze Maria for the brand name, then come on another day and order a la cart; it will be much better and probably also cheaper.

I have been to many countries and restaurants and I have never been treated so bad. I had a reservation and since they could not find it they did not bother to fix something up for me. This island has many restaurants that are said to be A LOT better in terms of quality and I can confirm that are just A LOT better in terms of service. Mr. Ze Maria I hope you read this and fix your place because restaurants and hotels are made of good service and good food, not arrogance and hype.
