We absolutely loved our stay at Mawimbi! The whole island is gorgeous, but the hotel's spot of beach is one of the best. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable. Location is perfect as it is only a few minutes walk from the town. We hope to be able to come back very soon!

Everything people say is true. Best beach on the island. So clean. When you walk the beach there are small shells everywhere that hurt your feet. Not here. Makes a huge difference. Very laid back. Comfortable bed. Easy walk to town in just a few minutes. The beach furniture is very clean and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back and wouldn’t stay anywhere else. WiFi has worked great.

I have been to more resorts in Mexico than I can remember and this is the first time I have been relaxed enough to be able to nap on the beach. The people who have said the staff here is invisible are right. Place is so clean but you don’t notice them working to keep it that way. Which makes it all the more relaxing.

And for all the reviews about holbox that say there isn’t a workout gym, we found one. It is by the town center. Lots of free weights and machines.

I celebrated my 50th birthday at the hotel. Well, what should I say.....I am still speakless about the excellent hotel, the very friendly and helpful staff at the reception, bar, restaurant, room maid and the people taking care of the garden/beach. All of them were great. Thank you again for this 10days at your hotel. Rooms are ver clean, restaurant has an excellent quality, reception is able to organize in minutes trips etc. for you....wow...location at the b st part of the Holbox beach....less sea grass than at other places,,,,close walking distances to the “town”

This location can't be beat. It's right on the beach, and they keep their beach area beautifully manicured. There is plenty of lounging available (chairs, hammocks, beach beds) under shady palm trees. Stayed with 3 friends, and we didn't feel crowded by other people staying there or even when it got a little busier at lunchtime with people eating at the cafe and ordering from the bar on the beach. Very friendly staff as well. The wifi is spotty, but we didn't come to Hotbox for wifi. Having breakfast included at the cafe in the morning was a really nice aspect of our stay. The rooms were very pleasant. Clean and efficient with a comfortable bed. They include a really helpful binder of local information about tours and places to eat. You are also a quick walk down the road to the center of town and next door to some great places to eat and drink.

The front desk staff were always helpful about calling for taxis or suggesting activities, and the restaurant and bar staff were friendly and accommodating. There are shelves of books available to borrow, water coolers to refill your bottles, and shaded areas to sit and read if you need a break from the sun (the beach has a lot of shade, too.) A perfect vacation spot.

We liked it so much that we are coming back next year!

Room tip: Beach-front rooms are pricier but have a beautiful view.

Hotel Mawimbi is everything that others below describe! The rooms are a little bit on the small side but boast a great terrace and have beautiful, touches of colour and detail splashed everywhere. We loved that they gave us unlimited complimentary filter water and the housekeeping was great. The location is perfect, close to the square but also on the most beautiful part of the beach, the huge beach beds, relaxing hammocks and the yoga were a delightful added bonus. Breakfast was a little limited (we ended up buying our own granola to add to to it) and the kitchen was frequently slow, fine if you’re happy to watch the world go by for a while but not it you’re hungry! We would undoubtedly return!!
