Great pub where if you ask for food you will told you can have crisps!

Traditional pub for real ale drinkers with truly great beer called Mischief.

Freindly crowd with one or two eccentric locals. Adds to the flavour.

Excellent staff

CAMRA pub with 8 cask ales from Monty's brewery and 10 real ciders. Slight functional and well worn but does serve a good pint. Also the local pool league happens here.

Thanks for your review, my manager Mel & Karen look after a great pub there. It was put in Pete Brown's book "The Pub" as one of the best 300 in Britain.
Thanks again

The Sportsman was recommended to us and we were so pleased to find this little gem of a pub. Everything spotlessly clean, barman in collar and tie. A warm welcome as we entered and my, oh my - what a range of beers and ciders to choose from!! We were offered samples of each of the excellent ales and couldn't decide which to try first, so spoiled for choice. A breath of fresh air to see the "no swearing/bad language" sign. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning soon. No food available other than the usual crisps etc, but a little gem in its own right - a must if you like real ales and ciders.
