We had to wait rather a long time in this pleasant restaurant, but the manager explained that for some reason there were more customers than expected. I imagine that everyone was satisfied: we were. We enjoyed our local moules. In fact, we were told, all the seafood is locally sourced except the cod which comes from the east coast. The venison is also local, as is the very tasty bread. We drank Bellhaven beer which was good. I noticed a local blond beer as well.

Excellent food and very generous portions. Sea food is a speciality here but the other items on the menu are extremely good.

We were staying in the adjoining Anchor Hotel and decided to eat here. Our waitress took our order - I had a question about the specials but she didn't know nor go and check with the manager. Our mains arrived - but no starter which the waitress had forgotten to order. Our dishes of squat lobster were served in huge metal pots but the manager had to provide us with the correct cutlery - after tackling about 30 of these spiny creatures I lost the will to live and gave up. Desserts were welcome as we were still hungry but sadly the sticky toffee pudding was dry and not great. Perhaps 'a bad day at the office' might describe our experience and we were just there on the wrong night but I wasn't exactly impressed.

We came to this restaurant tonight rather by chance. Had booked another but really liked the look of it. And we made the right choice! The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. They were were really friendly too and the food was lovely. We had the cheesecake for dessert and WOW! The best we have had and that is quite a few. We would highly recommend and are coming back tomorrow.

Really impressive small restaurant.

Great value. Very smart, friendly and friendly .

Ate as a family party of 10. We had a mix of pies, fish and chips, smoked fish and chips, Cullen Skink abd risotto.

All dishes piping hot and delicious.

Well worth a visit.
