We recently spent 3 nights at the Rowany Cottier and can thoroughly recommend it. Our room was spacious, very well appointed, comfortable and with a superb view across the bay. Breakfast was lovely with a choice of traditional English, Manx Kippers or smoked haddock as well as the usual cereal, plenty of tea/coffee and copious supplies of toast.
Heather, our landlady, was very pleasant and welcoming and full of local knowedge and ideas for things to do/places to visit.
As a town, Port Erin is lovely and a good base from which to explore the Isle of Man. We left the car at home and travelled by public transport - bus/steam train/horse drawn tram and electric tram. All ran to timetable (on time) and the timings were very good.
The guest house is a short walk (5 min) from the town centre but is situated in a very quiet location (looking right across the bay).
There are several pubs/hotels in Port Erin all offering good wholesome food plus a few more in nearby towns/villages.
There are plenty of good walks around Port Erin and we saw seals/basking sharks and chougs.
We would thoroughly recommend it.More
