“Lovely outlook - just a bit small”
Reviewed 19 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

The cottage has the most beautiful view across to Portsmouth and for this alone I would rate it 5 stars! However, for 6 adults it is just a bit small - one of the bedrooms on the 2nd floor is too small for 2 people and their cases and the lack of a family bathroom wouldn't have been so much of a problem if the 2 en-suites were of a decent size but as they are literally the size of a cupboard it got very cozy when we were all trying to get ready at the same time.
Also there really needs to be more seating in the lounge - the sofa is large but as it is a sofa bed it does not really sit more than 3 (4 at a push) comfortably so with only one other armchair in the lounge we were short of comfortable seats.
That said, we really did have a lovely weekend at Gunpowder Cottage and would certainly go back, just not with 6 adults.

Thank you for your kind comments and we have now upgraded the seating within the lounge to include a new large corner sofa that also converts to provide an extra bed plus 2 new reclining swivel chairs so you can swing round and full enjoy the wonderful harbour views

“Lovely House, Beautiful Outlook”
Reviewed 8 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Gunpowder Cottage is a lovely house, the views are beautiful across the Gosport harbour with plenty of yachts and fishing boats coming in and out throughout the day. Our hostess Laura was very welcoming and ensured we were set up for our stay. A couple of negatives were that the dishwasher was out of use & a broken chair in the living room meant there wasn't enough seating for the 6 of us to eat at the table - but nothing important enough for us to ruin our trip. The local pub is only a 5 minute walk along the sea front and is very pleasant, there's also a couple of other local amenities which makes the stay even better. We will definitely be back.

Dear Holly, thank you for your feedback and kind words. Thank you for also letting us know about the couple of maintenance issues. There are 2 spare chairs in the large hall cupboard housing the boiler for when extra guests come and stay and the engineer has been booked in to repair the dishwasher. Thank you so much for letting us know.

“Great location overlooking Portsmouth harbour. Lots to do in the area.”

This is a well appointed house in a quiet location with fantastic views across the harbour. Bathrooms compact though! Worth visiting is the Naval Dockyard with lots of related museum attractions in Portsmouth, Gosport and Southsea. Portchester and Southsea Castles v interesting. Stokes Bay nearby great for families - splash pad, play park and mini golf. Enjoyed crabbing at Hamble having taken the little pink ferry from Warsash - great fun. Took 20 min ferry crossing by catamaran to Ryde to visit Osborne House which was a great day out. Staff at Complete quickly provided Nippon to deal with an infestation of flying ants on arrival which was completely successful.

We had a great stay at Gunpowder Cottage. The house was very comfortable and beautifully located. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the tides come and go and also all the shipping in the harbour, The garden runs down to the water and there is plenty of garden furniture to relax on. The house is very well located for all the naval museums, there is even one next door! We would definitely recommend. All Complete's staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient.
