We stayed here for three nights while in the Tuscany region. The room was incredible! Gorgeous views all around and a very accommodating staff. A wonderful hotel when visiting this region. I would suggest eating at some of the restaurants in town as they are a close walk away and delicious.

Wonderful atmosphere, very quiet and relaxing. Excellent service, overall a very satisfying stay.
Food a bit expensive but good quality, totally recommendable if you look for a private, relaxing atmosphere

Griole would have to be one of the most peaceful places in Tuscany (with all amenities) and the Castel would have to be the choice of accommodation. It lives up to its five star rating with all services you could want. The beds are comfortable and the grounds extensive. After a long day of walking from Greve it was so nice to relax in these surroundings.

Room tip: Ask for a room overlooking the gardens

This property was incredibly beautiful. From the moment we arrived we knew that our time would be memorable. The view from our room was stunning and we were able to take a few photos that will definitely get printed, framed and hung up in our home.
A recommendation for the you if you plan to book here...if interested in using the spa for a massage, book early. This is a very popular activity and we were unfortunately unable to experience. We tried to book 24 hours in advance and there were no appointments available. I recommend booking before you arrive.
One comment for the property managers; We were able to catch a quick glimpse of the chapel but saw that it was locked and unavailable for our stay. It would have been nice for that to be available to take our time and see that historic 11th century building. Being a history enthusiast, we enjoy learning about the history of such structures.
We would also recommend taking a stroll down to Gaiole in Chianti and checking out the piazza and the shops. We had a memorable dinner there our last evening and we would highly recommend it!
Also, regarding the dinners at Castello di Spaltenna; We booked the Romantic Getaway package which included a private dinner in the wine cellar. This was fantastic! Plan on at least 2.5 hours (we took 3-hours) and come with an open mind. The plates included beef tar-tar, roasted dove breast, outstanding cheeses, several local wines and outstanding service by our personal waiter. That was an experience of a lifetime!
Another recommendation - take your time with all meals! Service isn't particularly quick, but remember that you are on vacation. Expect things to take a little extra time and you will not be disappointed. We saw a few people get a bit frustrated when their morning coffee didn't show up as quick as Starbucks - but if you relax and understand that you will have a much more pleasant time. The views from the terrace are stunning. This place will be on my list to return!

I found this resort randomly when my boyfriend I decided we wanted to spend one night in Tuscany and boy are we happy we found this one! It's an absolute Tuscan dream! Only about an hour and a half outside of Florence, we rented a car and found the castle easily. Everything was picture perfect!! We had an incredible day lounging at the pool and spa and then going to a wine tasting they recommended with complimentary vouchers. That evening we enjoyed dinner in the michelin star restaurant. The next day we took a nice long walk up hill to a nearby town to explore and then headed back for more pool time. The rooms are cozy and clean with plush robes, slippers, and incredible bath amenities. This is a place we'll be telling all of our friends about, it's truly a dream!
