Lovely family holiday

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Sept 2016
Excellent and clean hotel, all staff are very friendly and helpful.
The Restaurant was very varied, always found something to eat.
The pool area is really clean and pool bar is great with again friendly staff.
We had a room in the main building with a pool and seaview, well worth paying the extra, rooms have been recently renovated.
Bbq night is on a Wednesday, you have to pay 15€ but is well worth it, lots of lovely food and entertainment is fab.
We booked a trip through reception, it was a great day out to Spinalonga.
Stalis resort was very busy with lots of shops, bars, restaurants with easy reach to Malia and Hersonissos. We really enjoyed our stay.
A Special thank you to the Barman from day one who has made us laugh and feel very welcome all our holiday unfortunately I didn't know his name but I have left a photo of him, really nice Gentlemen
Date of stay: August 2016
Room Tip: If you want to upgrade a pool and seaview is well worth it

First of all I would like to point out that the hotel certainly could do better. There were good things but there were also some bad things. What did I like: I liked the service at the reception, kind, good english speaking persons that help you when you need it. The room cleaning is good aswell, I have had no reason to complain. The rooms itself are good, everything has airconditioning that can keep the room at a nice temperature as long as you start it running some time before you go to sleep. Warning: your key has a magnet that takes care of the power in the room, if you want to let your airco running you either have to be in the room, not close your room or ask for a spare key. The pool itself is good and it is long and deep enough to take a nice swim. Although this is a common problem with any kind of these hotels: there were not enough beds around the pool. I however doubt this could be solved by placing more beds because more people would simply lay their towel and stay away.

Now for the less good or bad things:
There is a table tennis table, a mini football table and a pool table. However you either have to bring your own things or you need to pay every time you want to use a crappy ball and a bat to play at the table tennis table. I would think that the all inclusive could include this aswell. Then for the bar at the pool. After 23.00 hours you have to pay for every drink you want and they are not cheap. Seriously? I could understand that at some point you need people to compensate you for late drinks, but 11 pm? That is way too early.
As I mentioned before, my room was nice, however when we arrived we first got put in other rooms, out of which we had to change the next morning. We booked this very early (january) you would think they had enough time to book us in the same room for the whole stay.
Then for the buffet, I have to say that there is a wild variety of all sorts of food from which you can choose. I liked this and I wanted to say this. However things could be much improved. The popular foods disappear very quickly and it takes some time to replace those. Also the plates run out pretty quick and then you have to wait for new ones. This could be better taken care of and this is probably due to a lack of personnel.
Then for the containers of the food. The fries are always limp, I have never had nice crispy ones, this makes you think about the freshness of the food. The covering lids over the food can not be put up firmly and fall sometimes back. It ruined a good shirt of mine when I was trying to take some sauce. De bottles with chocolate and other stuff that you can put over your ice are always sticky and should be properly cleaned regurarly.

What I found weird above all however, was that on saturday (and on sunday too I believe) they invited guests from somewhere else to eat at the restaurant. Although I could normally care less if some extra people were eating, this time there was simply not enough space to sit. I got sent away from two empty tables after which I just took a table that someone was just finished with. This is not a way to treat you customers that stay with you for at least a whole week. If you want to invite someone else, fine, but make sure your own guests can still find a table.

To end my review, it was certainly not all bad at Kyknos, but there are certainly things that could be improved and I hope they do.

Room tip: Take a room on the other side of the road that separates you from the main building.

We visited Kyknos hotel in August 2016. All was fine, starting from the welcome and finishing with the staff attitude. The staff is perfect and always to help. Special credit goes to Despoina and Nassos who attract by their charisma and hospitality. In addition the food is great with thematic dinners on week-ends. It is a green and well kept area. The only negative thing is the back yard of the building opposite the main block. It is a desertlike area with no view at all. Also the hotel is in the 2nd line and we had to use the private beach of Ikaros hotel, some 10-15 min. Of walk. The beach is good. Overall we are very satisfied. But if you choose to rest in Malia rent a car to visit all the beautiful sites Crete can boast for. Actually there is not much to do and see in Malia or Stallis.

Where to begin... Excellent and clean hotel in the busy resort of stalis en route to malia, from the management to the house keepers all of the team were very professional, The genuine kindness shown towards us as guests is a breathe of fresh air, even on my birthday the maitre'd had reserved us a table at breakfast and brought out a cake which was a kind touch.
The only issues that were encountered were down to Thomas cook, we were booked into the wrong room type for us 2 adults
2 children and a baby, the recently refurbished rooms were immaculate just not big enough for us, the hotel kindly offered us to move to a larger yet more basic room, we did decline this offer as we didn't want to spend our holiday time packing up and moving. Would recommend to anyone looking to travel to Crete 5*

Just returned this month. The hotel seems perfect in the brochure and web site however if you are in annex buildings opposite the hotel entrance, the rooms need
refurbishment, if you are on the ground floor your patio opens up on to a 5ft hedge with no view and no privacy. The pictures advertised are of the rooms in the main hotel. We asked about moving to a sea view room and were informed that it was an extra 20Euros per night and it was not really suitable for a family of four.
It was also a bit annoying to be offered to attend the pool BBQ on a Wednesday evening, at a cost of 15 Euros PP. The food was not that great, chips for breakfast !! we ended up going out for a few meals as it became hard to put a meal together.
There is no real entertainment available for teenagers, there is a pool table, table tennis and table football by the pool, all at a cost. Good WIFI in reception.
Be prepared for towels to be placed from midnight for the following day.
The staff were all extremely helpful. The resort of Stallis has a lot to offer, especially Pella sofia bar and lounge, George is extremely helpful and friendly.

Room tip: Ask to be in main hotel second floor for a view
