Owner description: Har Ki Pauri (Hindi: हर की पौड़ी) is a famous ghat on the banks of the River GANGA in Haridwar in Uttarakhand state of India. This authentic hindu place is the major landmark of the holy city of Haridwar. Literally, "Har" means "Lord Shiva" who is one Super God(Mahadeva), in Hindu theology, "Ki" means "of" and "Pauri" means "steps". Means "Steps to Lord Shiva". It is Beleived Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu have visited the Brahmakund in Har Ki Pauri in the Vedic times. There is a large footprint said to belong to Lord Vishnu on a stone wall. It is believed that it is precise spot where the Ganges leaves the mountains and enters the plains. Har ki pauri is also the area where thousands of pilgrims converge and the festivities commence during the Kumbha Mela, which takes place once every (12)twelve years, and the Ardh Kumbh Mela, which takes place after every (6)six years and the Punjabi festival of Vaisakhi, a huge harvest festival occurring in the month of April, every year. Har ki Paudi was not upto our expectation for the HOLY BATH. It is not that neat and clean. One Should check for a clean GHAT than Har Ki Paudi. Aarti Starts at 1900 Hrs at Har ki Paudi. But to be in the front row you should be there by 1730 hrs as it is the main attraction. Everybody should attend this Aarti.

Bath at Har ki Pauri is the best bath of the world. This bath makes our soul holy in all respect as per Hindu Mythology. Water at Har-Ki-Pauri is quite cold but one shouldn't miss this at all.
Want to visit again & again for whole life.

For people living in Delhi, Hardiwar is just a couple of hours drive. Although I have been to Haridwar on numerous occasions I still enjoy there. The atmosphere, the maddening crowds, the evening Aarti and awesome Puri aloo make it a memorable experience. The time for evening Aarti is 7 pm and the an early dinner @ Mohan puriwalla is a must.

I have been har ki pauri many time, may be more than 100 time due to some religious matter. It is a saying that if you have bath in Ganga once in a life time, your all sin will be forgiven ( by Hindu Mythology) so it's good to have a bath in Her ki pauri. but you should take care of your stuff coz there is no place to put your staff in safe. so do not bring costly stuff if you are having bath in Ganga, If you are from other country so be careful with your dress. In India people do not feel normal with a bit short dress so respect there feeling and dress properly or you can enjoy wearing Indian dress. If you are really want to see something really different so you must visit Haridwar at the time of KUMBH KA MELA. you can never forget the India by watching Lacks of People having bath in Ganga from all over the world. So my best wishes for to visit Haridwar Har ki pauri means the stairs of God.

Thanks
