I am an older gentleman and so the thought of walking up this quite steep track was a little daunting at first, but it was well worth the effort. There were many places to stop on the way and the locals were very helpful and supportive.

The views from the top totally justified the effort and I would do this again when next in Wanaka.

Thank Chris M

Track is not easy but totally worth it. Any fitness level could do this, just take your time. Views are incredible.

Great views, well worth the 1 1/2hr round trip. Take water, hat and of course good walking shoes. ..............................

It’s just over 500 meters high, but she is a bit of a steep climb to get to the top. There are benches on the way up to pull up, when needed. The top gives you a good view over Wanaka town, and Lake Wanaka.

I started out early as it was meant to be 27 in Wanaka later in the day. I got there at 6:45 and there were quite a few locals already making their way down. Considering I had armed myself with water, the right shoes, hats etc, etc - they just took their dog and made me look very over prepared. I had to stop for a few breathers on the way up, but there is plenty of opportunity to do this. Even if the locals do make it look like they are just taking a stroll! A good view from the top and satisfying to know you have climbed a mountain (albeit a small one) by 8:30.

Thank Charlotte G
