I think we spent about three hours in total on this interesting walk. We went up one side and down the other, this included resting at the top and taking time to look at the good views of wanaka and the surrounding area. We wore hiking boots and it was a warm day so we had water. As usual, the more hardy locals were in some cases wearing flip flops (jandals, as they call them) and not bothering with water. Its steep in places but very doable if you just take your time. And of course it's free.. has a couple of free car parks nearby.amd is just outside wanaka.
