Sheraton Denarau Villas

My wife and I shared a villa with my daughter, son in law and grand daughter. It was very roomy, spotlessly clean and contained everything we needed for an enjoyable holiday. It had 2 separate living areas and two separate kitchens and bathrooms.
The resort covers a massive area with about 7 different restaurants (including a branch of the famous Moo Moo of Gold Coast and Brisbane fame). We dined at all the restaurants and they were all stunning. There are several pools, a sandy beach and beautiful gardens. The staff are genuinely very friendly and helpful. The resort makes for a restful and enjoyable family holiday. We will return.

Room Tip: Do not visit in the rainy (cyclone) season.

Our family (me, my husband, 2yrs and 12yrs girls and my parents)stayed for 5 nights on holiday.

First, all of the hotel's staff were friendly and professional, they provide great service. The 2 bedrooms room wes comfortable and has a wide span of area. The breakfast provided daily at "Feast" in Sheraton resort was great. On our arrival night, we had dinner at" Zing" located and Westin resort. It had a range of Asian food, tasty and to our liking. Also because I'm a SPG member, my two kids recieved the "kids dining discount" rate of FJD5.00 per meal for lunch or dinner, that became useful at all three resorts(Sheraton & Westin) .

The Sheraton villa's swimming pool by the sea is beautiful and calm. The free WI-Fi in the room is useful.

Sheraton Villas room includes a kitchen, very useful for family when you have a toddler or little children with you. But in my opinion there is one major problem with it. We saw a lot of cockroaches in and around the kitchen. Especially near the sink. After a incecticide treatment we requested for,the next morning there was still many little cockroaches crawling in and around the sink. It would be great if there was a more effective way to solve this problem.

Our family had a good time at Sheraton Villas and I would strongly recommend the sheraton villas to families with children.

We stayed for a week, two families totalling 10 people, children ranging from 6 to 18 and it was fantastic. The villas were clean, spacious and modern. Being able to make use of the three resorts (Sheraton, villas and Westin) gave plenty of options. Westin spa was just like the title "heavinly" and the Medi spa near the golf course also very good, do lovely henna work. Everyone is very friendly and bus trips to Nadi only a $1, great to support the local economy, especially after the floods, which on The resort you have no idea has happened.
We loved the jet skiing and the golf, also the horse riding on the beach. The food was very good and so were the cocktails. Can't rave about it enough and will stay there again if we go back to Fiji. Can't comment on the kids club as we didn't use it. Wanted to mention that even though it is very family orientated it is just not for families, lots of coupls and groups of friends were there as well.

Room Tip: We had a garden villa and it was good to be a little away from the pool area, but you can't go w...

They have thought of everything to enable relaxing holidays for everyone from the grandees to the tots. Being self catering makes it easy to feed hungry tummies in an affordable way, have midday rests, read, swim, go out at night or go for special trips. Nothing is too much trouble and the unfailing sunny smiling Fijian faces are a joy. Go to the market in Nadi and get super fresh fruit and veges. We also enjoyed taking the local buses to get a feel for Fiji away from Denerau which is quite surreal. For a relaxing, put your mind in neutral holiday , this is hard to beat.
NB restaurants are very pricey!!

Room Tip: Seafront looking over the pool

Let me say upfront I am not a fan of Denaru with its’ grey sand man made beach and murky water. That said, I understand that the pools, multitude of dining options, adventure opportunities e.g. zip lining, white water rafting and competitive pricing are attractive to many overseas travellers. In recent years we have avoided Denaru (perhaps unfairly) and headed straight to an island after arriving in Nadi. Staying at Vomo this year, I changed dates a few times, so ended up overnighting at the Sheraton Villas and in retrospect I am very glad we did.
I did try to book the Hilton initially but its website said no availability so went for the Sheraton Villas instead. There were a few issues confirming our booking via email, I’m not sure that the booking clerk had a particularly good grasp of English but when we arrived all was in order. We have learnt not to book an airport transfer; you may end up waiting some time for others to exit arrivals, purchase wine and snacks etc. Catch a cab – it may be a little derelict as ours was but it’s an easy 15 minute drive to Denaru.
Upon checking in we had been upgraded (which is always nice) to a 3 bedroom ocean front villa that was actually two villas in one. One side was a traditional hotel room and the other a 2 bedroom (upstairs and down) villa with a lounge and multiple balconies. Tip: ask for a first floor villa to avoid any overhead noise, although those with small children may like the ground floor access to the garden. The décor and fit out was outstanding, amazingly huge and comfortable beds, massive marble bathroom with high end toiletries, kitchen, multiple flat screen TV’s – the list goes on and on. Everything was newish and well maintained with the only issue being we couldn’t work out how to get access to the Guest Services channel on the TV.
As a family of 4, it was great to have a night of privacy with separate rooms before going into our open plan one room villa on Vomo.
The Sheraton Villas is part of 3 properties – with the Sheraton Hotel and Westin being the other two and they had a kids eat for a flat fee ($5 a think) deal and when we checked in we were also given 50% off the Feast buffet, so we went there for dinner. Without that offer, we would have gone to Moo Moo at the Westin. The Feast buffet was OK, excellent service but some of the food was a little average e.g. lamb chops with 80% fat vs meat. Having said that there were some good options – the freshly cooked fish being one and the pasta another plus deserts were very, very good.
We didn’t bother with breakfast, it wasn’t included in our rate and we didn’t want another buffet. There didn’t appear to be any 'off the menu' breakfast options, although near Reception there is a patisserie place that looked like it served good coffee and light meals?
The Villa pools were lovely. The front pool that overlooks the water with the swim up bar was quite small and very popular. Our room overlooked this pool and it would seem that many people rise at an early hour to reserve their sun lounge! There was a huge pool in the middle of the Villa complex without the views but with fewer people and still with drinks service. As the Oceanfront Villas do tend to overlook the pool the other options may be quieter but at least the night we were there, the waterfront restaurant was closing up by 9.30pm so there was no noise.
Checking out we did have to call a few times to have our bags collected but that was a minor thing. Next time we go to Fiji we may actually stay at the Sheraton Villas for a few days and perhaps do that zip lining and white water rafting tour. Perhaps Denaru isn’t so bad after all?
