As a photographer, this butterfly house is a great place to explore composition and colors in images. It always takes 10 minutes or so to have your lenses de-fog in the warm temps of the house, but its worth the wait. I spent over an hour there chasing butterflies among the beautiful flowers.

We entered the heated building and immediately we were in a tropical paradise. Butterflies everywhere! Plants, flowers - and butterflies flying all around, resting on leaves, or feeding from the open flowers. After 30 minutes, we realised that we had only moved about 1 meter, but had taken lots of pictures! In total we spent 3 hours, watching and photographing. There is a big accent on nature, protection of the environment, and bio diversity. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great place to visit and learn about these beautiful creatures.

Thank Chris N

The location is nice but too small. In the end it is just one covered garden with plants and butterflies. We have spent only 30 minutes here, still we enjoyed the time.

Dear Dana,

The team of Butterfly Gardens thanks you for your comment. During your next visit, we invite you to take the time to take the time: observe, breathe, let yourself be carried by the tropical atmosphere that is offered to you ... Enjoy your visit to escape from the stress all day in lightness. Admire the many species of exotic butterflies twirling along a course that extends into a greenhouse of 1000m ² which allows you to be closer to butterflies. This trail is also conducive to the observation of ants, chameleons and other exotic species.

For any further information following your visit, do not hesitate to contact us by email : info@jardinsdesapillons.fr.

Looking forward to welcoming you back to in the Butterflies' gardens.

Elodie

Lovely to see the butterflies....as promised lots of colour. The ant colony was also interesting....a couple of presentations, one in movie form but no English translation but still worth seeing the butterflies, particularly for photographers....and next door the stork conservation park so easy to visit both together

The "Garden of Butterflies" is just slightly off the beaten path but well worth a side trip, especially for families with young children. The experience begins with a short film (French with German subtitles) on the life cycle of butterflies and their place in the world's ecosystem. The main attraction is a stroll through a large greenhouse filled with exotic tropical plants and countless free-flying butterflies. There are informative explanations in the butterfly pavilion, but the kids will simply enjoy being in a cloud of beautiful insects. There is an absolutely amazing tunnel of working ants, cases full of live pupae, some exotic lizards, etc. Close to Riquewihr (worth a stroll in its own right) and on the Alsatian wine route.
