“Lux colonial villa for large groups in great location”
Reviewed 16 October 2016 for a stay in August 2015

We hired the villa to bring together friends living around the world to celebrate a 50th.
The villa has huge rooms each with its own bathroom, gorgeous furnishings and fantastic communal spaces to come together. It was like having five mini houses all together. The pool was fab and we played chess and board games with house cocktails served at sundown.

The villa comes with staff that cook and look after your every need. The food was excellent and the service very comfortable. We had a yoga instructor come to the villa each morning which was followed by a lovely fresh and cooked breakfast options. The villa is opposite a beach and has a turtle hatchery which was very special - we actually got to release turtles. Very cool. There was a Hindu festival while we there which was a great delight. The location is perfect for an authentic experience of Sri Lanka while offering colonial luxury.

Beds were super comfortable, great night sleep and very quiet surrounds.

I would recommend this to any group of families or friends. Look forward to staying there again.,just need another big birthday!

“Loved it!”
Reviewed 15 October 2016 for a stay in September 2015

We had an amazing time at villa Samudrawasa. The villa is stunning. It is beautifully renovated and has so much character. The rooms are large and it's the perfect setup for a group of people. The pool is gorgeous and the beach is just across the road. The staff are fantastic, they really looked after us. The Sri Lankan meals they cooked were delicious and so were the cocktails and home cooked snacks. We'll definitely stay again.

“luxury villa”
Reviewed 6 October 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Villa stunning.
All bedrooms beautiful, furniture quality throughout.
Spotlessly clean.
Food plentiful and very good.
Everything helped by having Kingsley and his 2 boys on hand but also discreet.
Pool good size.
Not ideal for children, especially as an indoor uncovered water feature.
Kingsley arranged trips out etc for us.
Area not touristy so no bars restaurants etc within walking distance but we were happy to stay in.
Beach just across road, quiet and beautiful.
8 of us felt truly honoured to have stayed in such a lovely place and Kingsley ensured we wanted for nothing.
As not touristy we had a feel for true Sri Lanka.

“Amazing, beautiful Sri Lanka, luxurious, beautiful villa, wonderful friendly staff!”
Reviewed 5 October 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Firstly this villa is beautiful, very tastefully furnished and luxuriously comfortable. Kingsley and the boys looked after our every need and couldn't have been more gracious and helpful. The food was to die for! Both traditional Sri Lankan or more western if required, it was absolutely top notch. The lovely pool provided a welcome respite from the heat and the fantastic beach was literally yards from the front gate, complete with nearby turtle sanctuary. A word of warning though - the sea can be very rough with a strong undertow.
The local town is totally authentic and non-touristy and was a fascinating introduction to real-life Sri Lanka - a big culture shock at first but in a good way! We went down to the harbour and chatted to the fishermen, browsed in the fish market, dodged between the tuk-tuks - a feast for the senses.
A little further away are the slightly more touristy beach resorts and the beautiful town of Galle, all well worth exploring, with great food and drink.
We took a few days away to see more of the island, arranged with the help and guidance of our hosts, which was very worthwhile, too much to go into her - amazing temples, wildlife, tea plantations and spectacular scenery. A must is a visit to the Tsunami Museum and memorials - very humbling.
I could go on and on... this villa is perfect whether you want to use it as a base for exploring the wider island or simply as a luxurious retreat, we absolutely loved it there.
