Overall we enjoyed our stay here, but the owner and staff were extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. If you like good service, I definitely would not recommend staying here. That being said, the room was lovely, spacious, really big comfy bed, lovely views of river and mountains. Rooms are 100,000 kip with fan and 120,000 with air con. We chose the air-con as it was about 40 degrees when we were there, and it was really worth it. Everything was really clean. Hot water shower and good water pressure. We did both find the owner's attitude to be really off-putting though. He kept insisting that we pay up front for the room and we told him we had to go and get money first, he seemed really impatient at this and didn't seem to want us to check into the room until we had paid. We had just come from an 8 hour bus ride in 40 degree heat with no air con so we just wanted to relax before we went walking looking for an atm. We stood our ground and let us put our things in the room and relax a bit before we went to get the money. He never told us that if we wanted the room cleaned or fresh towels we had to leave the key at reception when we went out. So the whole time we were there we assumed they just did not have a cleaning service, until we left our key for safe keeping when we went tubing on our final day and came back to a clean room and new towels. I didn't trust him to book buses or tours etc. through him so I'm not sure what the prices were like, but we just booked everything we needed elsewhere. Location is fantastic though, all the best bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance. The restaurant right next door is a lovely place to relax and we went there for breakfast every morning. I know other people that paid 120,000 for an air-con room that included a lovely breakfast in a guesthouse slightly outside the main part of town, so there is better value if you don't mind staying a little bit out. Overall we had a pleasant stay here, but I would probably stay somewhere else if I returned due to owner and staff's attitude.

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst relaxing in VV and was vey pleased with the hotel. Few reviews on here doubt it's cleanliness, but I found the rooms to be very clean, very comfortable and turned down at least once a day.

Location is brilliant, bang in the centre of VV with excellent bars either side, a fantastic collection of street sandwich vendors opposite and next to a well stocked shop and tour operator. Also, whilst it may be a little noisy during the day, the bars nearby begin to close about 11pm, so by 11.30 it's very quiet, bar a bit of sporadic traffic noise.

Beds were comfortable for Laos (a little hard!), shower was powerful and warm and the balconies on every room are a nice touch. The views from the rear are excellent, but are a little more expensive.

Owner and staff tend to keep themselves to themselves, but can help with onward transport (though they do tend to add the standard 5000kip commission to the price, which they remove if you haggle hard).

Would certainly stay here again, and wouldn't let the negative reviews out you off. The only problem is the wifi which is supposed to only be available in the lobby, however provided you connect on your way into the hotel, I found it's useable in rooms on the first and second floors.

So many choices in VV. Clean. Accommodating. Wifi. Beer Lao for sale in the lobby. Safe parking for motorcycles. Great view towards the river. Steep stairs but big deal. RIght at the intersection of the main drag.

We have stayed here a couple of times, not a bad place. I read some of the bad reviews here and can honestly say I don't know what they're talking about. Bed is comfortable, room was clean. The only complaint I have is that they keep turning the WiFi off.

Originally intending to stay only a few nights as price was above our budget, me and my boyfriend soon realised the comforts of this guesthouse was well worth the money. We did however have a ground floor room which as I can image doesn't have one of the better views the guesthouse has to offer but we were pleased with what we had. Our room was super spacious with a soft cosy bed, tv, fan and a large shower room/toilet. I would recommend the quest house to fellow travellers although if your booking your next bus ticket shop around, we did get one slightly cheaper up the road.
