It was a beautiful hotel, it looked lovely from the main lobby, the gardens were well kept, the staff were helpful and friendly but it just lacked something in the atmosphere although we couldn't really say what.
The rooms were lovely, very attractively decorated but we had booked off an old brochure before the re branding, so we didn't receive the size of room that we expected, the manager offered to move us but we were unpacked and didn't care enough to repack and move. We liked the bathroom style and it had a double sink, bath and shower.
There were 3 big pools that were very attractive and there were lots of sun loungers both around the pools and by the sea. The bar staff were quite attentive down by the sea and there was a great service there. The water sports were a bit of a let down at the beach as the lagoon beside the hotel is very shallow most of the time and it's full of coral so you can go and have a dip but you can't really go sailing or wind surfing or do water sports properly. The water sports centre seems quite keen to sell their paid booze cruises! There is supposed to be a leaflet left into your room with the activities available for the day but no matter how much we asked, it was a rare occasion that we managed to get the leaflet. They had yoga on some mornings but it was over by the time they leaflet was left into your room so I went to it twice and was the only person there - both times, although the hotel was full at the time! We used the tennis courts often and they were good and floodlit.
The buffet food is reasonable, there is something for everyone but it really wasn't replenished often enough at busy times and there were birds constantly flying in and trying to pick at the food - that was a bit off putting. The show restaurant was very good but as the hotel was full when we were there, you had to book it 2/3 days in advance which is a bit of a drag..
They had entertainment at night with live singers, dancers and discos which did generate a relaxed positive atmosphere.
