We spent four nights at the Cable Mountain Lodge and couldn't be happier with our choice. We chose a room with a wall bed so there was an extra bed for our teenager (our 12 year old used the pull-out sofa). The kitchenette was very helpful for breakfast and lunch. We used the fridge, microwave, stove and coffee maker. The dishwasher was a bonus. Even though the lodge was full (it's spring break week), it was very quiet and we never heard our neighbors. Our room also stayed cool with AC and fans.

The property itself is very nice. We enjoyed walking across the parking lot to the river. Within a five minute walk, we could be at the small market for food, store for clothes and souvenirs, brew pub, shuttle stop for Springdale, Zion Outfitter (where we rented gear for the Narrows) and most importantly - the entrance to Zion! It was so nice to just walk right in to the park!

To walk into "town" where there were more shops and food, the walk was anywhere from 10-30ish minutes depending on where we went. We'd normally drive to a restaurant for dinner, thought, but traffic was rough due to construction.

Wifi was a bit spotty in our room, but we were on vacation! We used the coin laundry once and that was great to have. We didn't use the pool, but it looked very nice.

For convenience, this is the place to stay! We would definitely stay again.

As many of the other posts have noted, Cable Mountain Lodge is as close as you can stay to the park entrance without staying in the park itself. You can walk into the park in a matter of minutes from your room where you can catch the park's shuttle service.

The hotel rooms were almost too nice for a National Park. Very sizable, well appointed, with a bedroom for us adults and a pullout sofa bed for our boys. It also included a kitchen (refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, plates and utensils) with a dinette. Was pretty much a small apartment.

The proximity to the park entrance is worth the price of admission. We saw lots of people either parking or staying in town and then walking a fair distance to get to the entrance. That's not a huge detraction for most people who are planning on doing a lot of hiking, but it was nice being able to get to the entrance so quickly.

We stayed during Spring Break and Zion was really, really crowded. In talking to rangers and hotel staff, it's pretty much like that during three day weekends and the whole summer. Off season it's apparently much quieter which is what we would do next time.

We waited for about 45 minutes to catch the shuttle into the park and then took the shuttle all the way back to the Narrows which is roughly a 40 minute ride. It just seemed like a long time to get to where we wanted to go to start the day.

However after all of our hiking, we went back to the Visitors Center around 2:00 p.m. and the line was at least 3x as long as it was in the morning. We guesstimated many of those people were in for a two hour wait just to board the shuttle.

We'll definitely stay at Cable Mountain Lodge next time, we'll just be a bit more selective as to the time of year to avoid the crowds.

Just steps away from the south/main entrance to Zion, Cable Mountain is a great property that allows you to avoid the traffic along route 9. (Ongoing updates to route 9 has traffic backed up for miles. DOT says it will be done by April 15 but when we left on March 26, it does not look anywhere near ready for completion by that date.) So we were happy to be able to stay at this property. After arriving, we never used our car again. There is an outfitters, brew pub, coffee shop and market right next door that also offers discounts to Cable Moutain guests. The property itself back up right to the park with stunning views. There is a peaceful sandy barbecue/sitting area for guests right along the Virgin River flowing along the back. They are currently remodeling a front building on the property but we never heard any noise outside or inside of our suite. The Judy Ann suite we occupied was very clean and well equipped with a full kitchen, sleeper sofa, and king size bed. There is plenty of storage - two closets, tall cabinet at vanity, large dresser in Master and two consoles in entry and sitting area. The bedroom area has a double sided fireplace facing the bed and the whirlpool tub. The only "drawback" is the bath is wide open to the sleeping area (probably why it's billed as a romantic suite) so family stayed out in the living area when another member was showering. The pool/spa area looks like a great place to relax after a long day of exploring the trails in Zion.
Every staff we encountered during our stay was extremely helpful. It was a pleasant stay we would not hesitate to visit again.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great!

The lodge is steps from the entrance to Zion and includes complimentary parking with your stay. We saved hours each day being able to leave our car at the hotel and walk directly into the park. The park is incredibly crowded and spending less time waiting in the line of cars looking for parking was great.

Pro tip: when you get to the park skip the shuttle at the visitors center and walk, instead, to stop number 2 to board. The walk is easy and pretty and much faster than the 60-90 minute wait to board the shuttle.

This is the best location in Springdale. You are at the entrance to the park and very convenient to all activities. The rooms are great. The pool is great and the views are better. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Rooms facing east have great mountain views.
