We visit the Old Faithful Snow Lodge and Cabins every winter with our local ski club. The main lodge is charmingly decorated and very comfortable, however, we generally stay in the western cabins, which offer more space for gear and group get-togethers. We travel with friends and always request connecting cabins but did not receive them this year. The main desk staff said that the cabins were fully booked and we couldn't change; however, the cabin that connected to ours did not have guests during our stay.
The cabins are very modestly furnished (like older motel rooms) but have all the basics (including a small porch where you can hang your skis; also a coffee maker and hair dryer). Housekeeping service is minimal (we moved the beds to make room for guests and found that no one had vacuumed there in a while). The bed linens are undersized and don't stay tucked into the bed very well at night. Overall, the cabins are overdue for some refurbishment.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the restaurant is very inconsistent in terms of food and service. Breakfast is generally the best meal of the day. The bar serves snacks from the main menu and the service there is generally prompt and friendly. In the main dining room, though, service can be very slow and the main courses just average and a bit over-priced (even taking into account that everything has to be transported into the Park). Considering the number of high-end travelers that the Lodge receives, we just don't understand why the meal service isn't of higher quality.
Travel to the Lodge is by snowcoach (either Glaval Buses or Bombardiers) and in our experience, the drivers/guides have always been helpful, knowledgeable, and very friendly.
