The previous review being an accurate depiction of the goings on of this "could be" wonderful place, to get truly authentic Cajun eats, hasn't missed a thing.
The turn over rate is high at Mardi Gras on Madison. When they opened we frequented often, when they were open.
What we witnessed was poorly treated staffers whom worked very hard for the Owner, who could be heard through the restaurant screaming at them, but all smiles when she would exit the kitchen to greet us. Unsettling to say the least.
The hours were horrid. They would turn people away at a certain point of the night, but then the Owner would come out and re-open the doors after turning other people away!!!! Not a god look for any business to hand chose your guests. The food is delicious, so people will put up with it for a while until some one in the market challenges them with something better or new!
I always wondered what happened to the Manager that used to be there. This was a woman of strength and profound professionalism. She could be found always smiling and greeting her customers. She even served them food when they were so busy that the servers couldn't keep up! What Manager do you know that does that? When we could hear the Owner bashing her on one occasion and then saying something entirely different about her on another occasion, to ANOTHER customer. My husband and I stopped coming. We liked her and she was the best thing we could see going for the business aside from the food! Bad karma comes with the lack of loyalty to those who are always there for you. We just do not want to be apart of the inconsistency and poor respect.
The second we stopped seeing her, things changed rapidly. And it appears that they have not gotten any better.
