“They call this a Sheraton?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2012

This was by far the worst Sheraton I have ever stayed at. Don't get me wrong this is not a horrible hotel, I have stayed at far worse, but as far as the quality you expect from a Sheraton, this is clearly lacking.

Staff members are not helpful and can be overbearing and rude at times. One example I will share: my wife called the front desk to see if they would have the number for a restaurant nearby and instead of giving the number, they just connected her to the restaurant. When we checked out there was a $1.50 charge on the bill for the phone call and obviously my wife objected to the charge - the front desk attendant became rude about it and initially refused to take it off the bill. When my wife kept asking for it off, she become rude and obviously upset. That was unnecessary, front desk lady. We weren't taking the money out of your paycheck, so why get rude? We had a lot of experiences like that over our 6 day stay.

A colleague of ours had stayed here about 7 years ago and informed us that it is a lot better now than it used to be, but apparently that is not saying much. Our room had marks and stains all over the walls and carpet. The shower had mold and mildew on the showerhead and tile grout. The floor was not even level in the room and the door had a near 1" gap on the bottom, making it so that you could hear everything going on in the hallway. Workers replacing carpet in the laundry room nearby were shouting and laughing in the hallways at 7am while doing their work. I understand their right to do their work that early, but quiet time should have been respected for the sake of vacationers. Restaurants are overpriced and average, the beach is poor in front of the hotel and the pool area is way to small for the amount of guests that this hotel holds.

Rooms either have an ocean view or what they call "mountain view." Mountain view is a big, dirty lie. They could MAYBE call it "city view" at best, but "parking garage view" would be more like it. You can barely see any mountains behind the parking garages and other buildings.

The location is nice - a decent food court is in the shopping mall across the street and several good restaurants are in walking distance. That all being said, there are plenty of nicer hotels nearby at which you will have a better experience.

We stayed in an ocean front room on the 18th floor and our view was amazing. Our room had a king size bed that was very comfortable , the bathroom was a bit small but just fine. The pools were wonderful, we enjoyed the infinity pool and the bean bag floats very much. The other pool looked great as well with slides and a water park. The only thing we did not care for was the breakfast as we are not big buffet people. We simply walked two hotels down to the Outrigger Waikiki and loved having breakfast outside on the patio over looking the ocean at Hula Girl or Dukes. The macadamia nut pancakes were to die for !! The hotel is in a perfect location for anything that you would want to do in Waikiki. Enjoy !

Room Tip: Ocean front is a must.

Hi, I stayed here on a special rate, which made it the best deal for all the hotels close to the beach. The hotel is very big, approx 1600 rooms, so people don't relax in the lobby, they shop or go to the pool.

The room was quite large, and the city views were great for enjoying a drink on the balcony. Nothing fancy with the decor, bathroom a bit scuffed but everything clean.

Rumfire is a good place to go for the lunch and afternoon happy hour specials, and the live music gives it a chilled out vibe ( friday evening acoustic duo was great). The menu is limited, more so for the dinner and late night snacks menus.

If you can get a good rate, then it is very convenient. I also stayed at the moana surf rider ( westin resort) which is more suited to events like weddings, and for the elderly who like to sit in the lobby or veranda. My room at moana surf rider was about half the size!

This 1940s hotel has been renovated many times, but you can do MUCH better if you want to be on the water. First of all, this hotel isn't on the water, it's "in the water." After years of erosion there is absolutely no beach dedicated to the Sheraton. What's worse, being in a wheelchair, there was no way to cross to and from adjacent properties on the beach side--and none of the streets go through because the Sheraton complex is so HUGE! The hotel just seems way too big for them to treat guests as they should at that price. Tiny pool, no room service after 10p (?), the location is OK but really in the pricey district for food. One block inland has some great eating options at more reasonable prices (well, for Waikiki!).

We stayed in a partial ocean view club room for two nights! We were on the 22nd floor with postcard views of Waikiki beach and Diamond Head! We could have sat on our balcony for two days straight and just enjoyed the view!
The rooms have been modernized
which is a nice change to the palm tree decor you find in some other hotels on the strip. The room was fairly compact but functional and clean. King size bed, chaise lounge, desk etc.
There are two amazing pools. The infinity pool is for over 16s only and caps off the sun drenched main deck on the hotel grounds. Lounges go quick in the morning! We almost missed out and decided to hire a cabana for the day for $45. This was fantastic as we had a great spot and could come and go as we please. The larger lagoon pool is also beautiful but is more shaded during the day which may turn off some hard core sunbakers.
Location was great. Right on the beach, across a road to the main shopping strip and resturants.
We can't wait to go back!

Aloha and mahalo for your recent review of our resort. We are very excited to hear you enjoyed the modern decor, views and the pools. Hopefully you had an opportunity to enjoy the Leahi Lounge for breakfast and sunset, probably the best views on the island. Mahalo and we look forward to welcoming you back soon. A hui hou.
