We had booked a deluxe ocean view room, which turned out to be a partial beach view, with the tip of Diamond Head, but mainly overlooking a flat roof of concrete. Nevertheless, it was still okay. This is a resort geared to families and groups of which there were plenty when we recently visited. The service is good, room clean and we had no complaints. Still would have liked the ocean view room we expected. The pool is salt water with the bar close by.

If you are looking for a nice, mid sized hotel with a great location and don't want to pay top dollar then stay here. If you want a 5 star experience then stay at the Royal Hawaiian or the Halekulani. If you want more of a resort vibe with beautiful pool and garden areas then stay at the Sheraton Waikiki or the Hilton Hawaiian Village. This was our 4th trip to Hawaii so we knew what we wanted.....a good location without paying top dollar. We booked a 3rd floor garden view room. The room was a standard size room that has been newly remodeled. New decor, new carpet, new tile shower and floor, granite vanity top, nice size TV, etc. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable I have had. I loved the room. There was also a nice sized lanai with 2 chairs and a table. Not sure why it's called a "garden view" room as I didn't see any garden areas but instead we had a pretty decent view of the ocean without having to pay for the higher priced partial or ocean front views so I won't complain. Noise was never an issue. The salt water pool was good sized. Nothing fancy but does the job. I think the pool area could use a fresh coat of paint to brighten the area up a bit. Plenty of lounge chairs and beach towels are complimentary to use. Poolside happy hour had $4 mai tais and 1/2 priced appetizer menu. There's a casual bar/grill area adjacent to the pool that had great food and fantastic nightly Hawaiian entertainment. Very low key and relaxing. The hotel sits right on the beach. The beach area in front of the hotel is very narrow. Not a lot of room for beach sunning. Not a big deal in my opinion. A 5-10 minute walk along the beach walkway and there it is.....the world famous Waikiki Beach! We enjoyed the walk and seeing the other hotels. The hotel has a great location for shopping and restaurants. 1 block from the new Beach Walk Shopping area, 2 blocks maybe 3 from Kalakaua Ave which is the main drag in Waikiki with world class shopping. The area felt very clean and safe even at night. I'm not a high roller nor am I cheap. I do, however, look for a great value. I believe the Outrigger Reef offers a great value in terms of price and location. I almost forgot!! Both of the Outriggers- The Reef and Waikiki - offer a complimentary vow renewal ceremony. I highly recommend it. It was an unexpected treat and a highlight of our trip.

Room tip: Stay in the Ocean Tower for a better view.

This hotel works hard to maintain their resort. The rooms (and bathrooms) are spotless, the pool is immaculate and comfortably heated, and the hotel is right on the beach. Restaurants in the hotel are also surprisingly good. The only down side is that upgrades are not always available, and our rooms this time faced the side of another hotel--it seemed only feet away. Curtains had to stay closed! But the rooms are large and the beds very comfortable.

Room tip: Try not to get a room that faces the hotel next door.

We spent 5 Awesome nights in this gorgeous place ON THE WATER. Excellent room quality Excellent service and yes we want to go back. This hotel is extremely well located near shopping and restaurants and is affordably priced. Lovely pool (with cocktail service) in case you don't want to be at the beach. Aloha!

The room was ample for 3 adults and the view was breath-taking. The hotel is in a great location and the beach was a good place to cool off. Rent a deck chair and read a book - perfect way to unwind. Great facilities and friendly helpful staff.
