“Beach Services are Great!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

The Reef is right on the beach, which makes the getaway a lot more relaxing. Melvino, manager of the beach services will set you up with chair/umbrella rentals, surfboards, whatever you could want. The rooms are lovely, and the hotel is in a gret location.

Room Tip: Pool side rooms and Ocean Tower rooms are quieter.

My wife and I recently completed a 10 day stay at the Outrigger Reef. We booked a partial ocean view room directly through the hotel's website a couple of months before our arrival. The had a promotion which required the code "Dream". The promotional rate was $225/night which was quite reasonable considering the hotel's location and amenities. This was our 4th trip to Waikiki so we had become familiar with the area.
We have previously stayed at the Imperial, the Pacific Monarch and the Waikiki Banyan. No kids this time so we opted for a beachfront hotel and we were not disappointed. Our room was pool side on the 10th floor and was certainly closer to the street than the beach but we did have a nice view of the ocean. The music from the nightly entertainment in the pool area was nice as we got ready to head out for dinner or sat on the lanai for a drink. The room itself was spacious and maidservice was excellent. The bed was very comfortable. The beach in front of the hotel is only OK as there are many rocks and water shoes are necessary. A short walk down the beach towards Diamond Head gets you to the beach area in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel etc. If shopping is your thing it was an easy walk to the main drag. The new shops and restaurants along Beachside(?) Drive were something new for us since our last visit. This was a very nice area, particularly at night. An excellent Italian restaurant was close by if you are looking for a nice dinner with friends or as a couple. The Ocean House restaurant was closed for renovations and we only went to the Shorebird for drinks and a little bit of karoke. The Shorebird was busy however everytime we wandered by. We had a late night flight back home but the hotel gave us a room for 30 minutes to use for a quick shower and change of clothes. That was a nice touch. My only small complaint was the slooow service at the poolside bar and restaurant. Not sure what was going on there but it took forever to get someone to take our order and then even longer to bring it to your table. We would definitely stay again and are already looking forward to our next visit.

This hotel is centrally located to all the tourist traps.....! I must say though, some of the shopping close by is over-priced but I did like the oyster in a can----mine had 2 pearls inside which I had put into ear-rings. It's very close to the beach and does have a nice pool. Rooms were very dated and small, but it was quite a while ago it may have been updated since. Staff were friendly, and place was clean.

We enjoyed six nights at this great hotel. We arrived feeling very tired after an all night flight and found the staff were wonderful. They checked us in so efficiently and we were in our room at 10 am!
Our 8th floor oceanfront room was fantastic. A beautiful view from balcony, from which we sat and watched amazing sunsets every night. The room was cleaned meticuosly every day and was very large and nicely refurbished. We enjoyed eating at the restaurants ,which had great food ,good service and good value.
The hotel is in a very convenient location and we were so pleased we stayed there.

Room Tip: Oceanfront room was fantastic and good value for oceanfront in Honolulu
