“Home away from home”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2012

We stayed at the Ilima for six nights after returning from the week-long NCL four-island cruise. On the whole, we loved our suite (1101). I was surprised at how quiet it was (especially since I'm a light sleeper) despite being above a busy street and right next to the elevator. We had only two significant complaints. The first was that, when the hot water was turned on—even low, it made a loud shuddering noise. My partner said this wasprobably due to an air lock in the pipes. We were in a hurry checking out so we didn't have a chance to alert the front desk to this problem.( Hopefully, it's been addressed.) The second concerned the metal tray under the air conditioning unit on the lanai. We sat out there on a few occasions, but this thing didn't look like it had been cleaned in a very long time. It was full of deposits (grunge) and moss. I'm only glad that my niece and nephew visited us in the evening because I would have been embarrassed if they had seen it.

This hotel has the friendliest staff! The studio rooms are large and has all the conveniences you need for a small family on a short vacation.

Room Tip: Parking is FREE but on a first come first served basis. We always got a space. Kinda tight though.

I liked this place because of its location and the (free) parking space. They offer free WiFi even in the room and 1-800 numbers are to allowed without charge (good for oversea tourists with a calling card). I stayed only one night (first day after arrival) and everything was just fine.

The room was clean and extremely spacious. The only thing to improve is that the furniture and the carpet have seen better times.

We had a large room. Location very handy and near bus lines. Could pick up breakfast items to keep in our kitchenette at nearby Food Pantry (urban grocery store with great produce) or the somewhat more expensive but ubiquitous ABC store. Nice pool for cooling off. I enjoyed a free lei making class that was offered once a week. Only downside was the street was fairly noisey in the wee hours and we were unable to keep our windows open for that reason.

We chose not to take our laptop since we were doing a lot of island hopping. There was a computer in the lobby for use with fee. This worked fine.

Room Tip: We had a nice view of mountains on floor 6. Higher up would have been even better, but we didn'...

Arrived in reception and this hotel looked very nice. they were very friendly at reception and checking in was very quick.
have to say however when i got to the room I was dissapointed. The decor was old the bed was a small double. The balcony had no real view. air coditioning unit was extremely loud.
The room looked untidy and dated. The kitchen was very compact and we didn't really feel like cooking there. the kitchen utensils were basic.

The swimming pool was very small and there was some gym machines but not a varied selection. The loaction of the hotel was ideal for waikki and other tourist destinations. There was a travel conciege at the frontdesk to help with any travel plans (open half a day). overall the hotel was ok however in comparison to other hotels stayed in whilst travelling in Hawaii was poor.
