This is a basic hotel with very few amenities but if you are just looking for a place to sleep then you could do worse. We had a really large room on the top floor with a large balcony that looked out onto the city. Room was starting to look a little worn but was one of the cheaper options by far in Waikiki at the time we stayed. Service at the front desk was not friendly but efficient and the location of the hotel is a 5 min walk through the international marketplace to the beach. Just off Kuhio Ave

Room tip: A small increase in price gets you a much bigger room with a balcony and city view (mostly looking over car parking buildings)

I had a 1.5 day layover in Honolulu, so I was looking for a cheap hotel, preferably near the beach. Not sure how I found this one, through TripAdvisor or Hotels.com, but the price was right and the location is EXCELLENT! I cannot believe it is such a low price and so near the beach, only 2 blocks away. MANY restaurants and shops in the area, since it is in the heart of Waikiki. One drawback was that we had to take a shuttle from the airport, which was $64 RT for 2. Oh well! I could have stayed near the airport with free shuttle but would not have the beach access.
The room was a King, and actually a pretty large room. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Room includes coffee maker and refrigerator. The TV was nice, but we could not get the free dvd player to work. Not a big deal. The bathroom was average sized and the shower was OK, not bad but nothing special.
My only complaint would be the thin glass of the large room window which looks out to a parking lot courtyard. We had to sleep with earplugs from the voices we could hear from across the way. Not really a deal-breaker for me, but kind of annoying. The balcony is not private, but stretches the length of the hotel, with outside room doors.

Pros: Location, size of jr. suite, microwave/fridge. Liked getting around from this point.
Cons: Needs updating, ants in rooms near microwave/fridge. Wait time at reception sometimes gets long. Very noisy in room; balcony windows not well insulated and there is trash truck pickup or delivery truck EVERY morning at 5am.

the hotel is well located (International market place, ...) but the hôtel standing is average. The hotel deserves to be renovated. The staff was kind and caring. A swimming pool would ne welcome for the price i paid.

Location was great, one block off the beach & across the new international marketplace. I upgraded from the standard room to a Jr Suite for $5/night & went from 271sq ft to 451 sq ft. Room was big & had microwave, fridge, safe & painfully slow WiFi. I got the deal through groupon. Be aware there is a $20 "resort" fee added to every night you stay. Made me head scratch & try to figure out how they don't add that to the "price" of the room per night... Parking is quite limited & is $25-$30 (Can't remember).
Overall, great for the money in this area. & the customer service was excellent!!

btw, the pictures are screen grabs & weren't inteded to be put on here. sorry for the crappy images & messy beds

Room tip: Junior Suite has a lanai (balcony) & is almost the same price
