Stayed there for three nights and would not hesitate to return. Older hotel that reminded one of 60s and beachboy area. Clean and friendly. Very good on site restaurant and coffee in the morning available by the pool. The staff were outstanding and a special thanks to the front desk and a great guy named Sheperd who was so helpful and friendly. This was a very good stay and I would recommend.

We spent a week at this boutique hotel. It has such a playful vibe and great employees. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The location was perfect for our stay in the city and our escapes outside the city. And for walking to shopping and dining. I enjoyed the surfer decor. The bar and restaurant are convenient and gourmet.

My husband and I ended our week-long stay on Oahu with two nights at the Surfjack. It came highly recommended - my sister had stayed there with her five-year-old when the hotel first opened and absolutely loved it, and the pictures on the website were really appealing. Great design. Loved that it's dog friendly. We also didn't want to be smack in the middle of Waikiki, and the hotel's location was walkable to the beach/shops, but away from the major crowds.

Check in was smooth, and the staff was very nice. But walking to the elevators, I started noticing how worn the hotel was, like it had really seen better days. The hallways were kind of dirty (they're open air) and there was some trash laying around. When we got inside the room on the 3rd floor, our one-bedroom suite seemed much smaller than in the photos, and again, everything seemed worn - the furniture chipped and stained in places, the sofa kind of flat, the grout on the bathroom sink coming off. It was pretty clean in general, just kind of old-looking. And the view, wow: hello, next-door multi-level parking garage! It felt like it was 15 ft away and made the room very dark.

So we called the front desk, and the woman very kindly switched us to the same room on the 9th floor, which was much better. Slightly less worn, slightly better view. Later we'd find the bed was pretty comfortable, and there was a lot of closet space. The room safe didn't work, though.

Other amenities: the coffee bar had pretty good coffee, and the little shop had some interesting clothes and home goods. Also had a really good breakfast at Mahaina and Sons. The pool was never that crowded, even though it's kind of small. And there's a hotel mascot dog! Her name is Winnie, and she's very cute.

All in all, not terrible. Would be great if it got spruced up a bit. Choose your room wisely.

Room tip: Ask for a high floor and a view that avoids the parking garage.

We loved our stay at the Surfjack. From the initial check in to the pool and dining experience, we found everything to be well-thought out and priced appropriately. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Oahu.

Malik and Hoku at the front desk had me covered for my stay here. They helped me understand the area and had a great knowledge of local restaurants, bars, beaches, and Sightseeing. Would recommend for any solo, couples, or family stay.
