Hilton Grand Vacations at Hilton Hawaiian Village

If you plan on staying in Waikiki, definitely make the Hilton Hawaiian Resort one of your top choices. The resort is located on the most beautiful and widest stretch of Waikiki beach. Sand is white and soft and the beach is not as crowded as some of the other well known hotels in the area. The resort property is simply stunning with the attention to detail and beauty to the specatular landscaping. The grounds have lovely gardens, flowers, koi fish ponds and a little sand beach with penguins. Everything is so clean and well kept. Keep in mind that the resort is huge and like a small city but it's easy to navigate and find the various attractions. If you go, enjoy the beautiful resort but defintiely get out and explore the rest of the island. You don't really experience Oahu if you don't leave Waikiki.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 days/2 nights in Waikiki after staying for 6 nights at the Marriott Waikiki Beach in October 2009. (Both hotels are in Waikiki, but on separate ends of town.)

This hotel is a great resort hotel located on the beach with several pools, many restaurants, and many shops. You can go to this resort and never have to leave the resort to see other areas of Waikki. If you are into shopping, you buy a Coach purse, jewelry, and also the "ABC" discount stores.

Hospitality Room ... I would recommend asking the front desk for a hospitality room which allows you to stay at the hotel until your flight leaves and use a hotel room for at least 20 minutes/per person prior to your departure from the airport. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 9 PM, so we used a hospitality room from 5:00 - 5:40 PM to get a shower and a little nap prior to leaving the hotel at 6 PM.

Pros:
- Great all-in-one resort
- Beach is great
- The pools are great
- Customer Service is very good
- Many stores and restaurants located on-site
- Short walk or commute to the convention center and Ala Moana shopping center

Cons
- If you want to use the fitness center, make sure you are a Hilton Honors member or sign up prior to checking into this hotel or else the charge is $14/day
- Internet fees are also an additional $15/day
- On-site rental car rates are very high at the hotel. We rented a car using a "promo code" from Dollar Rental Car about 3 blocks from the hotel. (We wanted to see the North Shore.) Look at the convention center travel desk for the promo codes. (Saved $40 compared to the hotel rental car rates)
- If you want to see the more commercial area of Waikiki along Kalakaua Avenue, then you will have to walk about 6 blocks through some "questionable areas". I would recommend going along the beach, taking a trolley, or using a taxi.

Overall, this is a great hotel. I would recommend to everyone!!!

Great hotel. Yes, it is huge and that will turn some travelers away from selecting the HHV. However, if you want a resort that has all the possible amenities and still is close to the action of Waikiki, this is a great choice. It's a short walk (along the beach to save steps) to all the other hotels on Waikiki. We had a corner room on the 12th floor, of the Tapa tower, which gives you more room than a standard room, it is a strange configuration, but that is what gives you the extra space. Our room was called a "garden view" but had a clear view (at an angle) of the lagoon and the ocean. Mix a drink, sit on the lanai and watch the sunset and the village come alive below.

We were on Oahu for 10 days (our 1st trip to Hawaii) for a conference and a vacation. Our room on the 15th floor of the Rainbow Tower was large and overlooked the lagoon, the coastline, and the Pacific Ocean. View was gorgeous! The room was nicely decorated and we liked the floor plan with a counter and refrigerator across from the large closet. The only drawback was a fairly small bathroom, but it was functional and attractive. The grounds of the Hilton are spacious and attractive, with lots of nooks and crannies to sit in the shade or to watch the flamingos, penguins, other birds, and koi. Our first dinner was at the Tropics bar and grill right on the beach, and we fell in love with the location; the view was superb, the setting was casual, and the food was ggod (as were the lava flows!). We didn't eat at the expensive restaurant, but found plenty of less pricey but good restaurants at the Rainbow Bazaar across from the main lobby. It was convenient to have all those restaurants and stores (especially the ABC store) a few steps away. The best and largest beach in Waikiki!
