I stayed here on a stopover from Australia on route to the United States. The hotel was full as it was January and the area generally was busy with people escaping winter in the U.S.
The rooms were good and had 2 enormous beds. There was a balcony and there are great views of Diamond Head.
There are several cafes and dining areas in the hotel and shopsetc.
The sunsets are spectacular.

My husband and I booked this room for our honeymoon. The location of this hotel is excellent because the beach is beautiful with beautiful sunset views and views of Diamond Head. Right out the lobby is the ABC general store and a market place. There is also some construction that is going on in the hotel but they don't start until 9am which is good because everyone is usually out and about at that time anyway. The beach front is also undergoing a replenshing project, I'm unsure when the beach front behind Outrigger Waikiki will be affected so I recommend calling the hotel to find out if the beach will be accessible when you arrive.

Room: furniture was slightly dated but very well kept. Our partial ocean view balcony was nice. You could hear the street performers at night playing which was really cool. Fridge/coffee pot available in room. Safe is also available. Walls seemed thin because we were able to hear the people next door talk normally and hear their door slam whenever they went in and out of their room.

Beach: Small and can be crowded during the day. The sand was very soft and water was great, not too many waves. The sunset was beautiful here, many people tended to just watch the sunset from the beach, so not many people in the water that that time (which is the best place for a sunset picture with diamond head behind you).

Parking: This hotel does have parking that is Valet only and it is currently $30/day for hotel guests.

Aloha RiceAh, thank you for your review of the Outrigger Waikiki and thank you also for choosing us for your honeymoon. We are happy to report that they hotel is currently undergoing a renovation where we are changing the beds, lamps, sofabeds, carpet, drapes and insulating all of the guest room walls. The beach project is complete and we now have twice as much beach in front of the hotel. Please don't wait too long before you come back and visit our beautiful island. With warm regards.

I stayed in Outrigger Waikiki on the beach on April 12-19, 2012. This was our second time stayed in this hotel within 6 months. I received a wonderful service from the front office manager Puna Ortega. I booked an ocean front room and I had so much trouble sleeping for the first two nights because of the noise. Puna Ortega was the only one who helped me to find a different room on my second day in this hotel. The rest of my stayed was very nice.

Room Tip: if you have trouble sleeping, DO NOT stay in ocean front room. too noisy.

This has nothing to do with the renovations or the beach rejuvenation but I think this place has slipped.
Things like rude staff (Clift) and staff members getting into lifts before waiting guests have turned us off this place.
Only 2 lifts were in operation and there was often long waits (especially when removalists were stacking mattresses into lifts taking up plenty of time).
The staff at the activities desk were turning into spruikers too always trying to get your attention with some form of "deal" when walking past.
After our first visit here in 2010 we thought we would just always stay here but after this trip will be looking at other options.
Rooms and views were obviously still nice but there are plenty of other hotels in competition so they need to offer a bit more than that.

We stayed at the Outrigger on the Beach (also known as Outrigger Main) for 9 nights in March 2012. The hotel had started the renovations the week before we arrived but apart from the pool being unavailable we would not have known that there was work being done. We were not disturbed by any noise at all.

We arrived very early after arriving on a 6am flight and to our surprise and delight our room was already available for us to check in. And what a lovely room it was. An oceanview on the 19th floor with views of the beach/ocean and the city was more than we had hoped for. The room was spacious and the bathroom was spotless and big. Add to that a large screen TV and free wifi as well as free broadband and you have the perfect accommodation.

We had pre-paid breakfast everyday and apart from one morning we ate in Dukes and here I have to thank the man behind the omelet bar as he was friendly and helpful everyday.

The hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful and we were appreciative of the ability to check in to our homeward flight and print out our boarding passes all without charge. We were even given a power adapter to use as we had left ours at home!!

Being in the centre of Waikiki was fantastic and we did not get disturbed by any noise or music from downstairs but for one night only the rowdy guests next door were quite disturbing but the renos will fix that problem. Having the Cheesecake Factory next door, the ABC Shop and the International Market across the road was a bonus.

We will certainly return to Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach...Maholo All

Room Tip: The higher rooms are quieter and oceanview and oceanfront have the best views!!

Aloha annabelle2904, mahalo for your wonderful review. We look forward to your return visit so don't stay away too long! You're right about the noisy neighbors as the hotel is unsulating all the guest room walls and that will soon be a thing of the past. Until we meet again, warm island regards.
