We choose this hotel for a 2 day stay before going on the ncl cruise round the Hawaiian islands. The hotel is beautiful with a lovely beach and they have their own dolphins too. We arrived late having travelled direct from the u.k. Our room was upgraded on arrival, it was a huge room with a massive bathroom that had a walk in shower, bath and double sink, and with a balcony overooking the golf course, I wish we could of stayed longer, I would recommend getting away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Lovely breakfast, we sat each day overlooking the ocean - perfect. we did have dinner at this hotel too, quite expensive but I guess you could get a taxi out, we just didnt bother!! Loved it.

We stayed in a partial ocean view room. I know some people have complained that it is a view of the car park, but it is a great for people watching so I would recommend it if your a but nosey like me! However if you don't like the sound of that i'd recommend a mountain view room because it looked beautiful. All the staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful. We came for our first wedding anniversary and when we arrived we received a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and yummy chocolates which was a great start. The beds were super comfortable and the bathroom was very good and spacious too. We went for the ocean package that includes breakfast buffet. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were very attentive even when it was busy. Pretty much every morning when we were having breakfast we saw couples getting married which was lovely. We also had afternoon tea on the Veranda which was also delicious. It is also fascinating to watch dolphins and turtles that live at the hotel :) The only bad points I would say would be that the carpets looked a little worn and like evrybody else says...you have to pay for your internet except in the business centre (C'mon Kahala sort it out!) If you think it is too expensive don't go! I think it is worth the money, you would pay a lot of money for a hotel in England and nowhere in England is a nice a Hawaii! However I would definitely recommend a lanai. The best part of the hotel was the staff they made us feel very welcome and made sure we had an excellent holiday. If i lived in the US I would go every year!

Room Tip: Get a lanai!

My husband was on business to be held in the conference center at the resort and I tagged along for a vacation. From the lei greeting when we arrived to the hugs from the staff we got to know when we left, this resort was outstanding. Once we were checked in, we were escorted to our room and given a tour of its features. The rooms are very pretty with elegant furnishings and a huge 5 piece bathroom. The two sinks were on opposites sides of the bathroom allowing 2 people to get ready without being in each other's space. There was a welcome gift of Kahala chocolate covered macademia nuts that were delicious. Once we got settled, we ventured downstairs to the Plumeria Beach House for a light meal. The food and the mai tais were awesome. The next morning we had the breakfast buffet at the Plumeria which was delicious. There are coffee makers in each room but if you are out for a sunrise walk, coffee is available downstairs. It's only available for an hour or so. The concierge staff was very professional and helpful. Special thanks to James for helping me plan a couple of hikes and a trip to the Palace. The private beach is a wonderful departure from the chaos of Waikiki. The hotel shuttle goes to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and from there, you can walk much of Waikiki. Dolphin Quest in also on the grounds and is fun to watch. The hotel offers some classes during the mornings on the Hula, Lei making and Ukelele. Aunty Pricilla, the teacher, is a lot of fun. This hotel is wonderful and should I travel to Oahu again, I would definitely stay there.

The Kahala Resort and Hotel has a wonderful reputation which is absolutely unfounded in my opinion! After a long wait for our room, we were taken to an 'upgraded' room that was dirty and generally 'tired'. The decorative cover at the foot of the bed was full of sand, leaving the bed gritty, the furniture and floors had old stains and built up dirt. It just needed a good cleaning. This was a complete turn off for me! The food and service were fine but nothing spectacular. All in all a very disappointing experience at a very high price.
