“Great walk on views”
Reviewed 19 April 2012

There were no activites going on as it is off season, but it was a wonderful walk. There is a great loop that goes around the fort and area, about 2.6 miles I believe. On a nice day it is a great stroll. You have great views of the water a bridge. It was very peaceful a there were far fewer people than on the life walk. There is a great picnic area with tables and views up behind he facilities.

“Fort Adams”
Reviewed 18 April 2012

Fort Adams was interesting even though we had just missed the tour. We are history buffs and it fascinated us to see how our country was protected 200+ years ago. It was built by Irish immigrants.

“Nice walking/biking paths. Great views!”
Reviewed 15 April 2012

Off-season, the fort itself wasn't open, but the grounds were, and we enjoyed riding/walking about. There's a very old cemetery of interest, and a memorial to the USS Bennington ship which exploded and sank in 1954 off RI's coast. Heard that the location will be a great place to watch the America's Cup in summer 2012.

“Best place in Newport for a Picnic - Don't miss it!”
Reviewed 14 April 2012

My wife and I have come to Fort Adams at least yearly for a picnic. It's one of the few places that remains uncrowded. The view includes the Newport Bridge, narragansett bay and a host of sailboats. I've never toured the Fort but the hill behind it is one of several picnic spots. It's also a super place for Kite flying. The Eisenhower summer whitehouse is back there as well. The harbor is another picnic area and a fine place to watch the boats jockey for position. There are several Mansions on the hill across the harbor and Ocean Drive begins on the lefts as you leave the park. During the summer they charge a nominal fee to enter. It's a great place to visit.
