Upon advice from friends, we decided to splurge in Medora and have our family of 5 attend the musical and pitchfork fondue. In looking at the website, the pitchfork fondue looks like an quaint, little affair with "limited tickets". The reality is exactly the opposite. There are THOUSANDS of people there and you can end up waiting in line for quite awhile. You go through a serving line and dish up the sides yourself and they plunk a steak on your plate (no question about how done you'd like it).
Next adventure is finding a spot to sit. There are massive picnic tables, but our family of 5 had a really hard time finding a spot together because so many people were "saving spots" for friends.
The food is average to extremely poor. I have to say that my ribeye steak is the worst steak I have ever been served. It was dry to the point of tasting like shoe leather. My husband's steak was very rare and full of fat. The view is nice, but don't waste your money on a meal here. Where else can you wait in a long line, serve yourself, sit on picnic table, eat off a paper plate, drink out of a styrofoam cup and have a shoe-leather steak for $28 per person???

Ate here Sept 6, 2009 and would not go back. Food is overrated and overpriced. There is no consistency to the way the steak is cooked - my husband's steak was very rare and full of gristle while mine was dry and overcooked. Our steaks were barely warm and we were one of the first in line, however, the selection at the buffet was still good. Could not cut garlic toast with steak knife. Saving grace to this meal is the wonderful view of the Badlands - priceless!

We didn´t know really where to go for dinner so we just took the one closest to the musical. It was not good food in any way. The meat was chewy and it all was very overprised. Don´t go here.

On July 28th, we ate at the 'Pitchfork Steak Fondue'. My steak was overdone, dry, and cold by the time I was able to eat it. The price of $25 for a Rib Eye was too much for this piece of leather. We were at the end of a long line and most of the fruit was gone also by the time we got up to the front. I wouldn't return to this venue.
