“Old, ok place to crash but not to 'resort'”
Reviewed 26 April 2012

This was an 'exchange' unit from my father's time share. Three stories with a master bed/bath downstairs, two twin beds in the middle, and a family room/kitchenette up top.

Furniture very uncomfortable and not enough seating for the number of persons able to stay there. Kitchenette was good with a full-size frig, microwave, dishwasher and stove. Little balcony on both the top and bottom floors with a pleasant view. Everything was dated but clean.

The elevation in Flagstaff is 7,000 feet and it became quite a burden for us easterners to have to constantly come up 2 sets of stairs from the master bedroom to the living room area. Master bath had a jacuzzi-style tub, it was small but did work. Washer and dryer on the bottom floor was really handy. The beds were awful with even worse pillows. All of us had neck aches and trouble sleeping. It was 30 degrees outside but the unit was always hot. We started sleeping with the door cracked open.

The facility itself was just ok. Staff were friendly but knew nothing about the area, most live in Sedona. The rec room was nice and they did sell Starbucks coffee and ice cream but many of the listed amenities, such as the spa, are in town - not affiliated with the resort at all. The whirlpool was constantly closed, in a week, we never got to use it. Internet access was fine.

This location isn't as convenient as you'd think. The Grand Canyon is 2 hours away as is the Painted Desert. Sedona is also over 2 hours away and Phoenix 3. We spent a LOT of time in the car. Check out the LOCAL 'Walnut Canyon' - only $5 a car and wonderful! The Reardon Mansion tour is a rip off and stay away from the Meteorite trap as well. The Meteriorite is $16 a PERSON and all you do is stand there and look at a big hole.

Be careful ordering food in, especially from the vendors featured in the Wyndham literature. Ask about 'delivery' fees upfront and how long your food will take. We took pictures of the $30 cold pizza we got from Mama something ....it was barely edible and only fed 4 people anyway. You do need a car, there isn't really anything close if you need supplies, etc. There's a nice Safeway and tons of fast food places about 10 - 20 minutes away.

Overall, we wouldn't stay here again but if you don't mind being in a car a lot, don't really need any amenitities. then I guess it's ok.

Room Tip: Get the 3-tier unit if you don't mind stairs. There are people on either side, but never over y...

This resort is spread out over a big area. The reception was about 20 mins walk from my cottage. The Safeway is over an hour's walk away, although much of it is very nice hiking area. The walk back from Safeway with a carton of beer, carton of soda and the week's groceries made hiking in the Canyon seem like nothing!

But if you have a car, this place is exceptional. My room was basically a standalone house with large living area, kitchen, laundry, bathroom with jacuzzi, balcony - the works! I only really hiked in the immediate area and out towards Walnut Canyon, which was OK but there are better options in close driving distance, especially in Sedona.

Flagstaff itself is in a brilliant spot. The Arizona Shuttle runs return trips to Phoenix airport, Sedona and the Grand Canyon from Flagstaff Amtrak. So no car is certainly feasible, although not ideal.

Really loved the week but would have been much better with a car!

Room Tip: The cottages way out the back are sublime but quite a hike to reception.

We really enjoyed our time here. the only problem with the upstairs/downstairs lockoff units is, if you get a bottom unit, be prepared for noise from the upstairs people. Every noise from upstairs is amplified by the flooring (upstairs people made alot of noise in the early moring). Also, our upstairs neighbors brought their dog, which barked afew times. This resort DOES NOT do mid-week cleanings like other resorts. I think if they had such a practice, they would have caught the dog being there (this resort is NO PET resort). Otherwise, the staff was great, and responsive to our needs. It is central to alot of sights, and the resort was very clean. They need to be more attentive to LOCKING off the connecting units . "TIP" If you get a upstairs "LOCKOFF" unit, make sure the DEADBOLT between the upstairs and downstairs unit is LOCKED!!! We were in the DOWNSTAIRS, and the deadbolt was not locked, so ONLY the regular hand lock was there, ON OUR SIDE. Had we wanted, we could have waited for the upstairs occupants to leave for the day, and easily gone into their unit or they into ours. We brought this matter up to the staff, and it seemed they really didn't care, or were not very concerned about this (still can't figure why).

Room Tip: If you get a upsatirs "LOCKOFF" unit, make sure the DEADBOLT between the upstairs and down...

We just returned from a one-week stay, and depending on what unit you get, it can be very good or bad.

We learned that some units are stacked, and some are side by side. We ended up with a lower unit, and we could see that the upstairs unit is way larger and nicer. Like some have mentioned, the walls are paper thin. We heard every word, every footstep, and every bark (yes, bark from a dog) from the unit above. I don't think they allow animals, but believe you me, there was a canine member in the building.

This being a Wyndham property, so we were not surprised that there was no housekeeping during the week. However, a little straightening would have been nice. There is a washer/dryer in the unit, so that was wonderful. They also provide detergent as well.

The unit was clean, and the appliances looked new. The furniture was average, but the bed was quite comfortable. Linens were so so; the duvet cover was polyester, so it kept sliding off the bed.

The activities center had 2 billiard tables, large TV's with Wii, some computers and printer. The staff was very nice. Because it was so cold, the pool was not open. Too bad. They do sell snacks, coffee, and ice cream there, which is convenient. Otherwise, there is a restaurant one on the golf course across the street. We ate dinner there one night, and it was surprisingly good.

I should mention that they will try to sell you a Wyndham vacation membership. All I can say is that you should do due dilligence before getting into one, and don't be pressured.

The resort is a bit removed from town, so if you want to be able to walk anywhere, this is not it. Overall, it was ok. For a great deal, I wouldn't mind returning.

We had a one-bedroom lock-off unit. I would say that the place is a bit small, but with plenty of everything, cookwares, dishes, a lot of supplies, and even comes with washer, dryer, and laundry detergent. The pillow-Top bed was great! We had good night sleeps after our busy days. The place was very well-maintained and it was very peaceful. We are the technology family and this place has plenty of electrical outlets to accommodate everybody without us having to move the furniture around to find them. Though we could hear next door moving the chairs around, it did not bother us much.

The staff was very friendly and provided useful information around the area, including the best route to Grand Canyon. Complimentary beverages were available all day long (with a lot of varieties). They even had muffins in the morning. :)

Overall, this is a great place and I would be out there in a heart beat if I had a chance. :)
