We spent two days in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and appreciated the need for both. Out of Fresno it’s an easy hour and a half drive to the Kings Canyon entrance. The main road connects both parks. For us, day one was cool with temps in the 40’s and overcast. Day two was in the 60’s and sunny. Great views of trees, wildlife and lots of easy trails to explore.

Sequoias are magnificent living beings that are here thousands of years, a way longer than any human being. I admire them for their age and for their ability to self-heal and regenerate, which is truly fascinating. This national park was on my bucket list for years and I'm really happy that I've managed to finally visit it.
It takes some time till you get from the park's entrance to the right place and see the giant trees, as they grow in the specific elevation with the right climate conditions.
To manage both national parks, Sequoia and Kings Canyons, come to the parks early in the morning, as the distance between places is not so small. Or divide parks' visits into two days, not to rush anywhere.

We drove on the long winding roads to the top where we found amazing sequoia trees. We were riding for a while so we stopped before hiking to the general and used the restrooms. In my life I have never
Seen worse conditions. The urinals were backed up and running on the floor.
The ladies room had not one square of toilet paper and there was paper scattered everywhere on the floor. Disgusting is a kind word.

We thoroughly enjoyed both of these parks. Of course, the Sequoia trees are the big draw, but there’s sooooooo much more beauty. The Grant and Sherman trees are “must sees,” but don’t skip many of the hikes that feature equally as magnificent, but lesser known giant trees. Check out the Parker Group to see eight giant trees close to each other. We had a fun adventure going to the super remote Chicago Stump, and really enjoyed the North Grove hike. Kings Canyon has gorgeous views along the full park drive. In Sequoia, be sure to see Tunnel Rock and Hospital Rock as two of the many interesting stops. Don’t miss the Indian petroglyphs and other exhibits at Hospital Rock, and take the short hike down to the river to climb some massive rocks among the rapids. We saw four bears while in these parks!! Two Mamas, each with a cub! Couldn’t have asked for more!

Seeing the sequoia trees was on my mom's bucket list so we made it happen! There were so many options that accomodated her arthritis issues - Grant's Grove was a favorite!
