“Off season maybe?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2012 via mobile

We didn't see a lot of birds, but it was mid afternoon and mid September, so that may have contributed to the lack of birds. We did see a mountain lion, and it scattered one direction as soon as it saw us. We slowly went the other direction, watching over our shoulder the rest of the hike. All in all a nice day though.

“Another quiet getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2012

I visit the Audubon Center a couple times during the year. It is a peaceful place to go for a walk, sit, watch the birds, etc. If you want to do some serious or even moderate hiking, this is not the place for you. Go to the nearby Dale Ball trails or the Santa Fe Conservancy trail instead of/or in addition to the loop at the Audubon Center which is .5 mi, but you can head up Bear Canyon a little way if you want. I always appreciate the friendliness of the volunteers and the information they have available about the wildlife. This is a nice retreat and you would never know that you are a short drive from downtown. I would recommend this for birdwatchers, families, or anyone just wanting a few minutes alone on a quite walk- the $2 adult donation is worth it.

“See the Homestead”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2012

The nature trails are great and the grounds are beautiful. But if you are going be sure to see the Davey House. It's only open one day a week , (Friday, I think). He was one of the first artists from the east coast to migrate to Santa Fe in the 1920s. You can see his studio, and his house , all as he left it. The secret bar is worth the price of admission. (5 bucks, I think)

“good day hiking trails”

Easy paths by the river, slightly more challenging up the mountain, either way you and your family will enjoy it!

“If you're going for a walk anyway - Check it out.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2012

At the top of Canyon road people wh like to take that early morning or late afternoon walk for a mile or two or more love this place. It's safe, peaceful, easy, quiet except for the birds, and easy to get to if you have wheels.
