“Very nice place but..........................”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the room very nice. BUT we like to play the slots in the casino and we were not impressed. The cigarette smoke in the casino is unbearable. We were both sick for a week after our 3 day stay. It is truly so thick that it's hard to see. You also cannot have a cocktail while playing - you have to go to one of the bars and purchase your cocktail or glass of wine. We'll just do our gambling in Colorado where smoking isn't permitted in the casinos and your drinks are free.

This hotel is excellent in every respect. My room was well appointed, modern and extremely quiet. Dined at he Hotel's Red Sage restaurant & meal was excellent. There are no shortage of bars & restaurants at the hotel. I also had breakfast at the hotel & that was also excellent. The surroundiing area & views are magnificent.

We didn't stay at the hotel but we were in Santa Fe and had planned to go out to this Casino. We were wandering around town and saw an art gallery that also had a big sign our front for Buffalo Thunder. We stopped in and talked to a very friendly local named Jimmy Lee who gave us a lot of info and a $25 each slot play coupon.

We drove out there later in the day (it's maybe 15 mins from downtown Santa Fe) and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. This is a HUGE beautiful casino with of course a ton of slots but also all your standard table games, and NO SMOKING!

We found a couple of machines to place slots on after we joined the "players club" and turned our 2 - $25 coupons into $85 in real cash. The hit a couple of numbers on the Roulette wheel for another $65, so we quite and have a super dinner and drinks on our winnings!

We were back in Santa Fe the next day and let Jimmy Lee know that we really enjoyed the place and what a nice casino it was. It really in on par with any of the smaller Vegas casinos, not your typical "Indian casino" type.

The next time we are in Santa Fe we plan to stay at the resort itself, they have some great art and the food was really excellent, I am sure it's a super hotel from the reviews, but we can recommend the casino for sure. Be sure to stop in a see Jimmy Lee (the art gallery is on Lincoln street, just up from the square) and get your free money!

I've stayed here twice, once for business and once for pleasure. Both stays were what I would expect from a Hilton property. Great service, great amenities. It is a 15-minute drive north of the Santa Fe square. There's a nice-sized casino attached with a great players club, lots of slots, and a few table games. The decor is expectedly southwest/American Indian. The outdoor pool is huge and beautiful. My king-sized room was spacious and included a coffee maker. My only complaint was that the balcony overlooked the HVAC system and it was a little too noisy to enjoy. We didn't use the spa services or play golf, but we had a very relaxing stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a balcony room that overlooks the pool. The night-time view of the pool and the mountains...

My husband and I spent two nights at this resort. This was our second visit. We live in Albuquerque so it's a wonderful getaway that is close by. The hotel is beautiful with museum quality artwork throughout the common areas on the main level. The rooms are spacious with balonies and some rooms also have fireplaces. With no mosquitoes, gnats, or flies the balconies are wonderful year round. They are protected from the wind and if the sun is shining it's pleasant for morning coffee or late night drinks. The rooms are spotless as are all the common areas, the restrooms in the casino are also spotless. The hotel is dog friendly. There are plenty of eating options. There is a family friendly buffet that has specials each night that are priced between $15 -S20 and sometimes buy one get one free, a family restaurant open for breakfast and lunch with sandwiches, salads, mexican dishes at reasonable prices, a restaurant in the casino that has good food and a fine dining restaurant that gets lots of diners from the area, prices range from about $18 to $38. The food is very good, ambiance great and great service. There is a beautiful outdoor pool and a lovely indoor pool as well as a nice spa. There is an arcade for kids, a gift shop and small boutique. There is a 27 hole golfcourse that's quite challenging. There are beautiful views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and other lovely views from the golfcourse. If you plan to visit on a weekend, call ahead for a tee time. They get busy on the week ends, during the week there shouldn't be a problem getting a reasonable tee time. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The Santa Fe Plaza is 15 minutes away by car, Santa Fe Ski basin about 45 minutes and Taos is a 1 hour drive. Gabriel's, a fabulous Mexican Restaurant known for fabulous guacamole made tableside is about a mile south on the frontage road. I think the resort has a lot to offer and is a great value. Beware the honor frige - if you store something in the frige there is a $25 charge.
