Me, my husband and a friend of ours stayed at this hotel in April 2012. Our horrible experience began as soon as we entered the city and tried to call the hotel for directions. The manager Barbara, explained the location once and when my husband asked for clarification she sighed with irritation and went into a frustrated tone over the phone. Confused, he told her we were in a new city and she shouldn't be frustrated with us we were simply hoping she could help us find our way. We finally found our way there (with no help from her) and arrived to find a fifteen minute line to even check in. Once we got into our room we found that the fan which connected the second bedroom to the a.c. didn't even work and not one, but BOTH phones in the room did not work. On the second day of our stay we came home in the evening to find that our room was not clean, not a single item of obvious trash was picked up, and that we had only been left 2 towels despite the fact that we had 3 guests in our room. We made due and figured the next day should be different. Once again though, upon returning only one of our two beds were made and this time we were left with no towels at all. We would have loved to call the front desk to request towels, but of course our phone didn't even have a dial tone. My husband and I walked down to complain and were greeted by the worst staff member of all, Danielle. We went down and let her know that we had been having some issues with our stay but she immediately became passive agressive. She stopped looking at us, looked down at her papers and said "like what?" We notified her of our issues to which she replied, "well I guess I can get you some towels." When asked about the phone her response was equally apathetic as she said, "I don't know what to tell you about that our maintenance guy isn't around." We also mentioned the fact that nothing was clean to which she said, "Well if there is stuff on your bed we won't touch anything." A fact which we were never told of before but still didn't explain why things like candy wrappers wouldn't be thrown away. After trying to be nice about the issues, I finally told her that I felt like the service at the hotel was very poor and I was surprised because it didn't seem to be an issue to her. As she looked at me confused, I reminded her that she hadn't offered any help to our situation and that she hadn't even offered an apology for the problems. She continued to say that it wasn't her problem that there weren't towels, she didn't have any. She then stopped listening to me to answer a phone call without even excusing herself. At this point, we knew it was pointless and just insisted that she bring us our towels so we could shower that night. Danielle never apologized, and we were stuck with the worst hotel experience we've all ever had. We chose the hotel thanks to a decent rating on this site, but don't make the same mistake! Avoid this place like the plague!

Room Tip: Don't stay in any of them! Go somewhere else fast!

Our goal is to not only meet the needs of each and every guest we serve, but to exceed your expectations to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Please know that your feedback is extremely valuable to us. Feedback such as yours assists us in improving our service and property on a daily basis. In addition, please know that your comments and issues will be addressed as we have gone through a overhaul with new staff and our Front Desk Manager has changed as well. We are here to strive and satisfy the guest and obviously this not a impression we like to put on Howard Johnson or our hotel in particular. Howard Johnson is the oldest Hotel chain around for 90 plus years and it has been base on the 3 C's (Clean, Comfortable and most important Customer Sevice). We strive to to extremes in measures as we know if it effects our guest it effects us. Plese give a second oppurtunity if your are in the are to show you the new changes that occured, Guest Relatios Manager-Tony P.

The front desk was very friendly and let us check in early. Very polite and gave us suggestions on a great place to go and eat. The room was clean and nice especially for those on a budget. Everytime we called for service they were extremely nice and professional. I would definitely recommend this hotel to all friends and family. The overall stay was wonderful and looking forward to staying at Howard Johnson Inn and Suites.

Room Tip: Rooms are very nice and choose upstairs becuase downstairs you hear the noise from above.

The hotel was a 15 minute ride to Sea World. It had a smell once you got down the outside stairs and there were bees flying around the trash can near the door. The breakfast not all that great. Round microwaved eggs. No meat. Did have waffles and cereal. There is no elevator in the building so beware. I will say that the room was clean and very big. Two big bedrooms with televisions in each and french doors to seperate them. The remote to one t.v did not work, but it was cool. The manager was ok. Was taking care of lots of personal business on the phone while I waited to get checked in. Overall, it was inexpensive and clean.

Thank you for leaving us a review on TripAdvisor. I certainly apologize that your stay was anything less than satisfying. We strive extremely hard to provide consistency in our hot breakfast. We do provide boiled eggs, sausage, warm biscuits,gravy, Texas shaped waffles, cereal, muffins, toast, bagels, tortillas, oatmeal, coffee, along with fresh orange and apple juice. I wish we could provide hard boiled eggs and will certainly look into that. Once again, thanks for taking out the time for this review. My family and I stayed at the hotel on April 2012. Nobody cleaned our room for 3 days and the manager Barbara was very rude once we complained about the bad service we were having. I was ok with the first day that we did not have cleaning service because we left the room late, so the second day we left at 10am. When we came back we found just half of the room clean, half of the bathroom clean, just 2 towels and they did not put new toilet paper neither new cofee. The 3rd day we left the room at 11am and we decided to call the front desk and we told them that they can go ahead and start cleaning. But that did not happen. We came back and the room was not clean at all. We went to the front desk and complained. Barbara was verY rude and yelling to my dad while he was trying to explain her in spanish. Luckly i speak english and i translated to her. She exuses herself saying that they just have one cleaning lady for the whole hotel and that the day before she got sick so she left. I have been leaving in this county for 5 years and this is the first time i see such a bad service and people pretending to be nice but at the first complain they start being rude.

Thank you for leaving us a review on TripAdvisor. I certainly apologize that your stay was anything less than satisfying. We understand how improtant it is that we strive to give daily service to our short trem or long term guest so that we may have consistency of clean rooms at all times. Unfortunate for our staff leader Barbara who is no longer with us had put this sittation at hand rather than explaining the steps or room service. Being there was a littlle miscommunication if there is a Do not Disturb sign that housekeeping will not service the room due to privacy matters. Also if there is personal belongings anywhere in the room including the on the bed that staff is addressed not to touch anything under any circumstanceOnce again I applogize on the situation you had, but in the event you are in the San Antonio location again please contact us and we will make sure that your next expierence will be great one . As to the knowledge as well we have take matters into our own hands and our front desk manager is no longer with us. As we take guest input very most importantly. If we can be of any further assistance on your future travels, please feel free to contact us at anytime.

When we walked in the door, the Guest Services Manager Barbara Parker immediately asked us what we wanted to see in San Antonio, then suggested a tour package. They were so Interested in making our stay comfortable and fun. We enjoyed our stay.

Our GPS had trouble finding the hotel, making us go way out of our way. Call the hotel for better directions.
