Overall the service was excellent. The food was good. I tried the signature venison and quail dish. The venison was the hero here. Excellent. The quail was a bit dry to be honest. But then that's not uncommon. We enjoyed our meal and it was definitely a nicer place than most of the Riverwalk restaurants. Probably as good as you will do if you want to walk somewhere from the Riverwalk. That said, I'd catch an Uber to Bliss for a truly exceptional experience.

My husband and I are on our first vacation away from our baby, so we wanted an extra special night out. Our experience at Biga on the Banks was just that! Everything we ate was amazing! We had the duck and lamb and both were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Our server, Chris, was so friendly and helpful - made us feel right at home! The ambiance in the restaurant was so beautiful and our table had a great view - I just felt so relaxed! I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting San Antonio, wanting a special night out!

Just had a wonderful dinner at Biga, overseen by waiter Rob C. He helped us order drinks and dinner with expertise and willingness to make recommendations. Quail was exceptional. Lobster bisque was uniquely light. Toffee pudding was outstanding. Great experience all around.

As USA TODAY's First Road Warrior of the Year, I travel a lot. Last week, my sister drove through San Antonio and my husband and I drove down from Austin to see my sister and have dinner. As I always do, I checked TripAdvisor and found Biga on the Banks to be very highly rated. I also thought that I would find a lot to eat there. The Mushroom Soup my husband ordered was so good, I had to order it myself. Very well crafted soy broth with mushrooms, beautifully done. Then I had an interesting combination of vegetables, including butternut squash in a tomato sauce with CousCous Cones made especially for me without peppers. And I ended my meal with the Shaved Beet and Goat Cheese Salad---I love to send my meal with salad, as the French do. Well, I almost ended my meal with the salad. My sister and husband ate the Lamb Chops on the Prix Fixe Menu, which they both enjoyed a lot.Their dinners came with a fabulous, but very sweet and rich dessert. I ended up eating much of what was left of that wonderful dessert. I would return to Biga, when I am next in San Antonio.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday at Biga, and we had a wonderful time. The food was excellent--my husband enjoyed his lamb, my daughter loved her snapper, and my rib-eye was the best I've ever had (better than Bohanan's!). Definitely try the pineapple sorbet--yummy. Our server made our dinner a memorable experience, from helping me choose a glass of chardonnay to making recommendations from the menu.

Sometimes, staff at high-end restaurants make people like us, who can only go to an expensive restaurant for special occasions, feel unwelcome (Bohanan's comes to mind) and rushed. The staff at Biga were welcoming, friendly, and attentive. A server can make or break a dining experience, and Biga's servers are excellent!

Biga will continue to be on the top of our list for special-occasion dining. Biga is a must-try for San Antonians!
