The hotel has a big lobby with windows facing the river. Rooms could use an update, the carpet in my room seemed old and the hallway carpet has lots of visible dirt, I also saw some insects in room and lobby. Breakfast has good selection, and staff is friendly.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our property. I am the General Manager of the property. Thank you for noticing the fabulous view of the San Antonio River Walk that we have from our morning breakfast and evening social area. It truly is a relaxing way to either start your day or wind down after a long day of sightseeing. We have seen an increase in insect activity throughout the city with all of the recent rains we have had. We do have a professional exterminator who is very aware of this activity and does a great job staying on top of it. Thank you again for your review. Me and my wife stayed there during our honeymoon for a few days. And 1st issue was we got the "handycap accessible" room, so everytime you showered water went everywhere (all over the bathroom). And we had an issue with them not wanting to release our money. We originally booked for a 4 day stay. So we had a pre-authorization for 4 nights on our account. So when we changed our stay to 3 nights there was a seperate authorization for the 3 nights on our account which went through as a "Point of Sale", so they were paid, but we still had a pre-auth on our account for a 4 night stay. And after 2 weeks after we got home it was still on our account, which meant that we couldn't pay our bills. We were in contact with management and they weren't going to release our money, even though they had already been paid. They were even trying to only give us a portion of it back, which would mean we were getting charged twice! After a big headache and tons of fighting with the management and our bank, it was finally released, but not before a ton of stress and argueing. So save yourself! Go somewhere else!

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our hotel and more specifically, your experience. I am the General Manager of the hotel and although I did not deal with you directly, I am aware of the challenges you had with the hold placed on your credit card. After reviewing the details of your reservation, I noticed that the handicap accessible suite you were placed in was actually the type of suite that was reserved for you at the time your reservations were made. Is it possible this was the only type of suite that was available when you made your reservation due to the high demand during the Spring Break time that you were with us? It is our goal to assign each guest into the specific type of suite they reserved. Regarding the hold placed on your credit card, I sincerely apologize if this caused you any unwarranted stress. When we were made aware of the hold, we immediately contacted your bank to release any remaining hold that had been placed on the card at time of check in. While we explained to your bank that we wanted to release the remaining hold, they informed us that it was necessary for them to speak directly with you. I believe this may have delayed the process somewhat. Thank you for choosing Homewood Suites. We would be delighted to have you give us one more chance to earn your business and if there is anything else I can assist you with regarding this matter, please feel free to reach out to me.

We needed a room for 5--2 grandparents, 2 parents, 1 child. We got a room that was spacious so that we didn't feel like we were bumping into each other. But we really loved being able to be in one space together so that we could enjoy the family time. The breakfast was adequate--better than many and not as good as some. We never took advantage of the evening meal offering, but it would be a nice option if we needed to save money. The women who cleaned came most days when the baby was sleeping, so we didn't have them clean, but they were very generous with the supplies we needed. The kitchen was well stocked for very basic cooking. The baby has food allergies, so we loved being able to store his food safely. It was in a good location on the river. The car valet charge was way too high, but there weren't other good options for parking. The personel were all very friendly. The pool was warm, but it is breezy on the roof. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you are HHonors members you can check in 36 hours before your stay. They provide a map of the rooms. We were able to choose a room that was laid out to our satisfaction.

Room has an odd layout with the vanity outside the bathroom near the head of the bed. Someone couldn't get ready without disturbing someone who was still in bed.

The location is great for walking to the Riverwalk.

Valet was extremely so retrieving our car.

The hotel was well maintained, Staff was extremely friendly and went out of there way to make my stay comfortable, Being suites the rooms were very roomy, My interent connection was pretty weak and hard to stay connected to my VPN. The evening reception was a great palce to wind down after a long day. Great location as it is on the Riverwalk and close to most restaraunts, etc.
