I stayed here for one night during a business trip. I found the atmosphere to be rather cold. The lobby is large and not particularly inviting. The restaurant Azul has good food, though overpriced, and again, I feel that the ambience could be improved. One of the other restaurants on the property, J Bar, has great food and spectacular views down toward the city.

I purchased shaving cream at the small store in the hotel (about $4 for a travel size). In the morning, there was no hot water for my shower. I let the water run for about five minutes, and it still hadn't reached tepid.

Within the first hour of our stay we had the bellman show us another room, had the engineer fix our A/C (he did by turning on the A/C for the entire bldg!), and requested additional towels. Every request was speedily met. Azul is a delightful restaurant; port chop was extremely tender ($26). Tapas were very large and delicious. Rooms need updating especially entry door (ours gave a poor first impression). Restful sleeping on Heavenly Bed except for early morning bird calls and the howling of a pack of coyotes, but that's nature! Three conferences were taking place but the only noise ever heard was that coming from the bar. Good choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a city view.

Had a 4 night stay in February, for a work event at the resort. From the moment the cab pulled up, La Paloma feels like a special place, in part of course because of the spectacular mountain backdrop very close by, and interesting desert scape. The lobby, bar, and restaurant are very spacious and with views overlooking the mountains and pool area - really nice spaces. I made use of the fitness center facility, particularly the lap pool, and had a great experience there. Kudos to Steve Lewkowitz and staff Eric for doing a great job with the facility, and making everyone feel welcome. The tennis complex looked amazing - only wish I had time for a set. Loved the expansive layout of the resort overall, felt like a village. I was very happy with the large room, quite comfortable - understand they are getting ready to do some updating, which will make it all the better - but hopefully without changing too much, the place is great as is!

Thank you for posting about our associates and the amenities you had a chance to experience while at La Paloma. We will be renewing many of the areas of the resort, but this will only make the amenities that much better. Our associates will always be the best. Come back soon to try out the tennis facilities. Stayed recently for a business meeting, property is well kept, rooms were okay, could used some updating. Ate at the J Bar for dinner, again nothing fantastic, but filled the need for a dinner. Service was excellent!

Played golf at the Canyon and Ridge 9's, fairly difficult, greens were in horrible shape. Lots of carry shots. They wanted to charge $179 before 2, so we played twilight for $85. Even at $85, as a hotel guest, feel I was overcharged.

Stayed for 3 nights in February 2012 and got a conference rate of $170/night. Heard that military and govt. got a $105+$20 resort fee rate. I think the average rate is $200+. Rooms are spacious, very clean, tasteful furniture, quiet, with comfortable bed. The grounds of the resort are well maintained and are beautifully landscaped. The hotel fits in with the surrounding. I didn't golf or swim, but used the office center, conference rooms, bar, and restaurant. The staff was very friendly and resourceful. The restaurant had pretty good food when I went there for lunch. The breakfast and lunch that was included with the conference was average and the wi-fi connection was ok (sometimes rather slow, particularly in the meeting rooms, but adequate in the sleeping quarters). The location has a great view of the city or the mountains. The streets nearby weren't designed for anything but cars which is kind of a bummer as the natural beauty is awesome. Need to have a car if you plan to go anywhere outside the resort.

Room Tip: I believe the I building wouldn't see the traffic on the nearby boulevard as much as the F bldg.
