I want everyone to be clear-the accommodations here are not deluxe. For example, there is no tv in your room and the furnishings are very plain. However, I stayed here for a strategic planning retreat for a board I am on and I can't imagine a more perfect place to stay. The bed and pillows were quite comfortable. Again, not fancy but comfort was key. The grounds themselves are beautifully maintained, and a few of us took advantage of morning walks off the back of the property right onto national park paths in the foothills. My room was in a beautiful little courtyard with a fountain, ornamental orange tree, and several kinds of cacti. The food was served at exact times-8, noon, and 5 pm. I was surprised at how good the food was and the level of healthy selections. They always had mixed greens available with fixings for salads and a good protein. They also had soy milk, almond milk, and coconut milk which was a nice touch. The cafeteria area has a nice outdoor seating area that we took advantage of several times. Our meeting room had the most unbelievable views of the city and mountains in the distance. I would recommend this as a retreat center to anyone--I felt renewed and energized by the experience largely due to the beautiful surrounding area. Also, the site has petroglyphs within a few feet of the backdoor of the chapel. These were very interesting to see. There is also a very nice pool but it was not heated so it was too cool to swim when we visited in January.
