Owner description: Voted BEST OF TUCSON every year since 2002 by readers of the Tucson Weekly, The Loft Cinema is a mission-driven, membership-supported nonprofit cinema that screens new independent American and foreign films and documentaries, along with classic art films, interactive events including a monthly short film contest, sing-a-longs and cult favorites. Patrons can enjoy beer, wine, pizza, tamales along with fantastic films. The main theatre seats 500 people and boasts the largest screen in Southern Arizona. In addition to our regular programming, The Loft hosts an annual international film festival in the fall and a free children's film festival every July. The Loft is a member of the Sundance Institute's Art House Project, based on our excellence of programming and service to the community. In 2012 The Loft was selected to be an official venue of the Sundance Film Festival in their Sundance USA program and we have hosted a screening direct from Sundance with the filmmakers every year since. The Loft is one of 7 American cinemas to be a collaborating partner with Film Forward: Advancing Cultural Dialogue in 2012, an honor The Loft also enjoyed in 2011.

I have screened films at the Loft for years. It is clearly the best alternative movie theater in this town. They offer films not available at any other venue in Tucson. It is (maybe by one-off default) the best in Tucson - period.

The Loft is a great place to see a variety of movies, from 1950's era B-Movie horror flicks, to fantastic new foreign films, and cult classics from the last 20 years.
Several times a year they show special screenings of classic movies, like The Holy Grail, or Psycho. These are always packed out - so get a ticket early!
They have served food, beer and wine now for some time, and the prices are reasonable considering the quality of the movies and the low price of the tickets. It's nice to see them supporting the local brewery Nimbus as well.
This is a great place to see movies and bring friends, I've never left disappointed.

Fantastic movie selections ......alternative, independent and films you would NEVER see at a multiplex and would have to wait to get on Netflix or some streaming instrument. Always fun special events. Its a movie theater that's still a "MOVIE THEATER". Love it.

THE LOFT is a great place for Tucson. You can see the more interesting 'little' films (Indies, small release), foreign films, old films and you can enjoy in the evening having a drink or a beer along with your popcorn! The first time I ever went to THE LOFT (couple years ago w a date) it was a screening of
a film (the name escapes me) and the 2 stars: Griffin Dunne & Rosanna Arquette were there to answer questions afterwards. That was so neat and a packed house. This is a very cool place for Tucson to have; kind of like being in Europe for a GOOD movie and a beer which you can't get at most U.S. theatres.
