Description: Located in the Historic Crags Lodge, the View is an established, destination restaurant for many people living along the front range. Dining is casual yet elegant and offers the best view of the surrounding mountains and downtown Estes Park through it's ninety foot wall of windows. Our bar opens at 4:00 PM and Happy Hour is from 4-6. The menu is an eclectic mix of unique entrees such as the Signature Short Ribs, Duck Confit, Roasted Eggplant Dip and our signature Cobbler. Gluten free and vegetarian options available. Only fresh, local ingredients are used in the menu and the staff is welcoming and friendly. The View is a perfect mix of atmosphere, views, excellent food and fine wine.

Reservations are usually required.
Adrian was our very attentive, but not hovering, server.
Cocktails were well made. Coffee was fresh. The wine list is extensive, and the beers cover the spectrum from light to dark. The dessert wines and liqueurs are modest in number, but should satisfy most tastes.
The menu goes from gourmet soups and salads to pasta, fish, and red meats; from lightly flavored to hot, with or without excellent sauces.
Desserts are generally good, but I cannot recommend the Bananas Foster.
The dining room has one or two (depending upon table arrangements) verandas for couples who wish to be outdoors, although no patio is available due to the position of the building against Prospect Mountain.

We waited until our last night in E.P. to try the View - and it was worth the wait. We had a great meal, there was nice live music, and it is a nice atmosphere (stone fireplace, wall of windows toward the mountains, 'mountain lodge' feel...

Brian, our waiter, took good care of us. We started out at a cozy outdoor two-top on a private balcony, but as the evening went on, one of the cold-wimpy Austinites (me) wanted to come inside. That request, as well as my husband's request for a side serving of fettuccini alfredo, were accommodated easily and gracefully. My only suggestion for improvement would be his 'swan-making' technique for my leftovers...

I had a almond trout and grilled veggies, which was really good, and Jim had a steak medallion, scallops and chicken combo - which he loved.

We look forward to coming back.

We had the best dinner party at The View Restaurant. It was to celebrate the end of our season with our staff members. We had not been to the restaurant for awhile so we weren't sure if the food and service would be as good as we had remembered it from a few years back. To our delight it was excellent! Brian made the evening even more memorable with his witty personality combined with complete professionalism. Our food was great and they even had live music (Dick Orleans). Could't have asked for a better way to thank our staff for their excellence by giving them a taste of the same! We will be recommending The View to our guests next season.
