Description: Nestled in the cottonwoods, El Pinto was founded with eight tables in 1962. Twin brothers John and Jim Thomas, known as the Salsa Twins, carry on the family tradition and have expanded El Pinto into the quintessential "Spot" for healthy and fresh New Mexican cuisine. Experience an authentic Taste of New Mexico. Reservations are recommended. The Salsa Twins are pairing tradition with innovative healthy nutrition at El Pinto. El Pinto is proud to have the first and only Animal Welfare Approved laying hen program on property. 200 hens lay pasture raised eggs for daily use. An onsite green house produces over 5,000 lbs of organically grown greens. Freshness is throughout El Pinto. El Pinto uses chile from Hatch, NM, dryland beans from CO, healthy sunflower oil for frying, Celtic sea salt for seasoning, and local ingredients when in season. It has been featured on Food Network, Travel Channel and the BBC among other places. Dog friendly. Ask for the "Puppy Patio."

Nine of us went here for dinner on our second night in Albuquerque. We sat in the bar area while waiting for our table to be ready. It wasn't a long wait and the time passed quickly as we snacked on chips, salsa & other fare while listening to live music.

As someone else expressed they seemed a little heavy-handed on the Chile rub on the ribs. Other than that, everything else we ate was very good.

Recommend the patio dining area, it was very nice.

Nothing can compare the the fresh roasted green chile at El Pinto. THe aroma of fresh roasting chile adds to the flavor. THe green chile chicken enchiladas we abosultely the best I have ever eaten. No vist to Albuquereque is complete without El Pinto

Good New Mexican food, good service, good atmosphere ..... it's ALL GOOD at El Pinto. It's a bit of a drive out north 4th St to get there, but the drive through a part of old Albuquerque is interesting.

El Pinto is a nice place to take visitors to. The building and grounds are pretty, however, I have seen a decline in portion size, food quality and service recently. Still a nice place to visit, even if only for drinks and nachos!

Our serviceh was pleasant and friendly. However, the food was marginal at best. The ribs were recommended but tasted overwhelmed by the red chile rather than balanced. The huevos were again overwhemed with sauce rather than taste. It felt like someone is trying too hard in the kitchen; someone without understanding that simplicity is usually the better approach. The flavors didn't come together well. The hot green chile was too mild for my son and me. Overpriced and not worth it. Nice staff and environment though.
