Owner description: This beach on Padre Island is a great camping and beach-going spot.
Reviewed 22 October 2017

The primitive campsites at PINS Malaquite Beach are very well maintained, and there is enough variety of sites that a tent is not drowned out by RVs and boat rigs. The showers were spacious and toilets were in good condition. The shore is a close walk away, and breaker dunes provide excellent views of the inland side of the park. Go here for peace, solitude, stargazing, turtle hatching and bird watching.

We were totally alone with the waves and the birds. It was about 20 minutes from the businesses on Padre Island and there was nothing there to eat. So we brought a picnic lunch and it was perfect.

They have a small museum which is excellent to see it explain the history of the area. I enjoy talking to the Park Rangers. They are very friendly and have a good knowledge of the area and are very helpful in directing you to the places you need to see. They also have walking tours.

Beach here was great! Not too crowded and had nice shade structures. There is a hub that has showers, bathrooms, a board walk down to the beach and a gift shop/information center. These facilities are well maintained and clean. The park rangers were very friendly and helpful.

We fished, swam and took a stroll down the beach. Water was nice--not super clear but that expected in the gulf...the sand is also super fine so the water picked a lot of it up.

This is our families go to Texas beach spot.

LOVED this beach. Beautiful, clean, and family oriented. Pelicans fly over and fish close to the beach often. I was so impressed, this is probably one of the only beaches I will revisit in the Corpus Area.
