This tour was interesting. People said to leave two hours to do this and I didn't think that would be possible. This ship is amazing to see! There are several levels. I would not recommend for those who have troubles walking.

“This was an amazing, hands-on U.S. history-educational experience.”

Allow several hours to tour all 16 decks of the huge USS Lexington, and be in pretty good physical condition, able to climb steep ladders again and again. There are no elevators. Both movies are worth the time: Legends of Flight, about how airplanes are made, and Fighter Pilots, which will tug at both your emotions and your adrenalin. Seeing up close all the vintage planes and learning the amazing facts about the USS Lexington and other aircraft carriers and battle ships gave new appreciation for the sacrifices servicemen gave with their lives, so many at such a young age, especially in WWII. Hearing "Taps" in the memorial sections was moving. Several hands-on experiences give you an idea of what it was like, including sitting and aiming the huge battleship guns. Disappointing aspects related to ongoing maintenance - the flight simulator was out of service, the video games where you practice landing a fighter plane were out of service, the escalator was out of service, the doors to the theater for the movie showing opened late and the movie started 10 minutes late, the staff in general seemed to have an apathetic attitude toward everything, but none of that totally ruined the experience. It just seemed as if with a little more effort, and possibly funding, it could have been much better. It's still worth the time and price.

Very cool. Lots of history. Neat movies. Awesome flight deck. Plan to spend a few hours and do a lot of walking and climbing narrow steps. Worth the effort.

“Great experience!”

This is a must see especially if you have kids! The flight deck was amazing.you get to see several different fight jets. As well as every area of the ship. You can even arrange sleep overs with groups. We didn't do that but I am sure it would be pretty scary to be there at night.
