This is not a resort by any standard. Rooms are average hotel rooms. one tv channel, local. Aircon not adjustable. 16C only. Solar power showers. No sun, or cloudy, no hot water. Food menu very basic. Maybe 6 a night to choose from. Not a lot of choice to go elsewhere either. Bar rarely has ice. limited choice as well.

Room Tip: poolside room only because its easy access to the pool

I rated the property Very Good. I am referring to the while experience, not the building which is showing signs of wear but that's to be expected considering remote location. Had an unscheduled overnight recently and the staff were fantastic to organise our extremely short notice arrival. After a very long and trying day, the ice cold beer, friendly smiles and service by ALL the staff and the great evening meal was most welcome. Love the upstairs bar and dining area. Will go back for a longer stay and look around.

At the reception we were well received on our arrival. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Taralala Bar/ Leaf hut was an open hut that can accommodate up to 50 people. Although it was an open hut with walls up to waist height on most of the walls it was a quiet and comfortable. Lunch was provided with a mixture of various cuisine. The sea food was nothing less than fantastic and most of all it was affordable. I would the venue recommend to any group who would like to organise a conference/meeting any gathering whatsoever.

This was my 3rd time at the Gizo hotel since 2014. There has been a change of management and it is obviously getting its act together more and more; Geoff, the on the ground manager was easy to approach and ask for help and he was really keen to do whatever was possible and necessary to make our stay a good one (there were 21 of us in the group and we were there for 5 nights). Sure, it's not the Ritz or even the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara, but for where it is, it is the 'best in the west'. Things have been cleaned up around the grounds and old run down furniture has been replaced with more modern and comfortable items eg the couches by the pool. Rooms have also been updated, painted and simple things like tap fixtures actually work as they are meant to! Beds are comfortable, there is a safe in the room and if you're in a room close to Reception you also get the free Wi-Fi. My air con and fans worked well but a few in our group had to ask for new remotes or get someone to look at it to get it turned on properly. This wasn't necessarily done immediately but it was eventually (remember that people in Gizo often work by a different time frame!). The food has maintained its quality over the years and the crayfish and other seafood dishes are to die for. Our group had a buffet dinner each night so we didn't try the pizza. But it looked good. For breakfast go for the included continental and have some of the pawpaw (?) but ask for some bush lime to squeeze over the top - sublime taste. And try the pineapple; I think it's among the best in the world. All here in little out of the way Gizo. I'm looking forward to being there again next year. Well done everyone.

Room Tip: Best rooms are on first level - gets a better view and a little more privacy on balcony

Happiness is a matter of expectations... If you survived your flight to Gizo, then you should be happy to have a cold beer, some EXCELLENT PIZZA, and warm
Hospitality at the Gizo Hotel. Just don't expect a perfectly clean bathroom and four star bedroom - It doesn't exist here. However, on my short stay the staff were very helpful and the food was good - and I slept well. All things considered - better than I expected!!!

Though please note - this is not a destination resort - more of a friendly place to stop off when moving from one place to another...
