Dean and Maudy are the most welcoming hosts making you feel part of the family as soon as you arrive at Awapiriti Lodge. We spent two very pleasant nights there on our way to the West coast. Maudy cooked for us both evenings, the food was delicious just as you would hope from a dear relative who has taken the time to welcome you.

The house itself is very comfortable, but just as you would expect from a favourite Aunt is a little dated in places, this in no way dampens the experience, as by the time you've chatted over supper and tried some of Dean's home brew you will sleep soundly.

The setting too is lovely, set in farmland just off Highway 65, the couple showed us a walk to do over the land and we took Belle their black Labrador for company. It felt like home.

Sadly, Dean and Maudy are moving at the end of March so there isn't much time left to experience this homely welcome - do go if you are in the vicinity.

Stayed with Maudie and Dean for two nights in November during our 6 1/2 week holiday in New zealand, good facilities and we very much enjoyed Maudies cooking both the breakfast and the evening meals. Fortunate to have tried Dean's home brew.
I will let you into a little secret, Maudie is a very talented singer, on request she bursts into a special version of "Good king Wenceslas"

Flat-out the best bed and breakfast on the road to (or from) Murchison. The home cooked evening meal was awesome, the home-made breakfast granola and jams were just as good. And then there's the home brewed beer (or 'craft' beer) if you prefer, were astonishingly good too.
Lovely location, friendly hosts, food, drink and...wifi. It has the lot.

My husband and I stayed here in late April and had a fantastic time. Maudie and Dean are wonderful hosts and our meals were outstanding! Their home is so peaceful and relaxing, the beds were wonderfully comfortable, the bathroom was small but has everything you need. We will definitely be back!

Maude and Dean were fabulous hosts, on a cold winters night to walk into a cosy home with a warm welcome was just what we need. Our room was so cosy, stylish and warm with electric blankets on to take the chill off. We started with a little drink and got to know our hosts. A choice of venison, chicken or prawns - our venison casserole was sumptuous and accompanied by all the trimmings with yummy dessert and great company. We slept soundly and woke up to homemade muesli, preserved fruit plus eggs any way and bacon plus
Thank you both we loved our stay
