Great place to chill and swimming. Pretty good snorkeling on the north side of the beach but you have to go out a waysfrom the beach

Locals call Kawakapu Beach "Sidewalks." Your GPS may not lead you directly to the parking lot or beach access but will take you near by. Going toward Wailea, make a right immediately after the Kihei Boat Dock parking lot. You will find a small parking lot where some convenient restrooms are located. The beach is deemed "Sidewalks" because you walk a short sidewalk to the beach. There is a Days Inn located right on the beach with beautiful grounds, lawn that meets the sand, etc. We set up for the day on a super cool lawn couch of sorts. Kind of a grassy knoll with a small berm that created a natural couch like setting right on the sand. On the other side of the parking lot is an Italian restaurant.

The beach itself is fabulous. Soft white sand, gentle water especially in the morning before the tradewinds arrive in mid-afternoon. There is some good snorkeling here in the early mornings. Lots of fish and turtles. Not too crowded. One of the best beaches we visited while on Maui!

This is such a walkable beach, we go every time we are on Maui. The surf is good for swimming, found this beach to be a lot calmer than many we visited. Parking is limited, and be careful to lock your car. We saw a little criminal activity here one morning.

Beach tour of Maui was fun to say we experienced. Beach was sandy- easy to walk on. Not many shells. Easy tide to play in. Calmer in the morning.

Great beach! Not crowded, good waves for body surfing or boogie boarding in the afternoon. Decent snorkeling on the north end. Can get windy in the afternoons.
