This hotel was a very welcome surprise. Check-in was smooth and the room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. It seems like a family run business and the 'family' were all very welcoming and helpful; even arranged a local taxi service to take our group of six to a party. Breakfast was really nice. Drinks at the bar are also very reasonably priced. All in all this hotel is a little gem and I would definitely return again.

We stayed here for 1 night as we needed to be in the area. The room (chalet at the back of the hotel) was warm, clean, cosy and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Excellent value for money. Service also was good.

We were recommended this hotel by a family member living in Penarth. We dropped my partners daughter back to Cardiff Uni and decided to make it a night stop and meet up with other family members. Place looked empty on arrival but we were warmly met by the owner. There was confusion as we had booked a chalet for four and there were only two of us. We explained at the time of booking this was all that was available. The owner said he could let us have another chalet which would save us some money. Winning!

We were allocated number 10 which I think may be the bridal suite! Tastefully decorated in pine. Big Four poster bed. Room was very well equipped with tv, fan, tea/coffee facilities, small seating area plus patio door to small outside area. Room was spacious and cosy.

Breakfast was in the conservatory. Small selection of cereals, fruit juice, fruit etc. The owners wife took orders for cooked breakfast and toast, which was very nice and adequate. Tea and coffee was brought in pots so you did not have to bother them for a refill. Good idea!

A couple of very minor negatives which would not stop me going back:-

No toilet roll holder in bathroom.

Apart from a patio door, there are no opening windows and I wonder if it could become very hot in the summer. The do provide a fan.

No sanitary bags or bin for ladies in the bathroom. Not a problem on my stay, but could be.

We anticipate visiting Wales regularly and hope to return shortly.

Stayed here for our wedding , I cannot praise this hotel highly enough, owners cannot do enough to help, the food was top notch, chalets rooms are clean and do as they say on the tin, a friendly family atmosphere, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place to anyone.
AAAAAAA********** all the way.

We picked this hotel for a last minute get away for a New Year's celebration. We stayed in one of the hotel's chalets located at the back of the main hotel building. Our room was spacious and the bathroom had a much welcomed bath (also a nice powerful shower). There was underfloor heating throughout the chalet which made it nice and cosy. Breakfast was served in a light and airy conservatory, the chef was kind enough to make me an omelette. The manager/owner - Pietro, was incredibly helpful and made us feel very welcome.

We travelled to Penarth by train and decided to the walk to the hotel, it might have been better to have taken a taxi (at a cost of about £10). We walked from the hotel to Cardiff Bay and back (via the barrage on the way there and mainland on the way back), it was a long walk but well worth it (especially the barrage) and certainly blew away the cobwebs. On another day we walked to the nearby lake/bird sanctuary (ask Pietro) and this provided a really nice walk in the countryside.

We are planning to visit Penarth again, perhaps with our bikes in order to see more easily the lovely countryside, and if we do, we will definitely stay at the Manor House Hotel.
