This was my first visit to the restaurant which is set on the Esplanade in Penarth and benefits from a lovely aspect looking out over the Bristol Channel and the famous pier.
The restaurant is set up from the pavement in a nicely refurbished building with big windows and a small terrace which will be perfect in the summer. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere of quiet confidence with a good choice of food and a reasonable wine list.
The service was pleasant and helpful without being intrusive. The menu offered a good selection of starters and main course offering with good quality ingredients. I had mussels to start which were freshly cooked and plump and tasted heavenly. My main course of rare steak was cooked exactly right and tasted really good with some fresh chunky chips and a Bearnaise sauce. my family went for the slow roasted pork which was extremely tender and tasted very good with no fat or waste.
The desserts were limited but the double chocolate tart and Pecan tart hit the spot with the ladies.
Overall an enjoyable experience and I thought a reasonable cost of about £35 per head including drinks, wine & service. Will definitely return!
