This is a paved/decked walk with great views at Mt. Rushmore. There is some up and down but the footing is not an issue. It's a must if you visit Mt. Rushmore.

Don't just stop at the grand view terrace. The Presidential trail offers great views.
The trail is not difficult and can be explored in 30 min.

At only one kilometer long, this trail should’ve been a no-brainer my last two visits here but I had never seen it until last June. I recognized it later on the movie “National Treasure: Book of Secrets.” With easy ups and downs between rocks and underneath trees it was a delight! serendipitously, I came across a Ranger interpretation. I hope you can find one of these talks, the Visitor Center will direct you towards the scheduled times. Just to stand there right underneath the chins of the four presidents, contemplating our heritage, was a joy.

It's part of the whole experience when visiting Mount Rushmore. Don't skip it. Depending on which way you start (left or right), you'll be required to walk up steps but what's a little exercise. There are excellent photo ops along the trail.
